Small lump removed from enterance to anus

I have just had surgery to remove a small lump/cyst from the enterance to my anus. I have been given strong painkillers as the wound has been left open to heal. Apparently this is the best way.

I have laxatives to help the stools be soft.

I have been to the toilet for the first time and while I was actually going it was fine but now I am in agony, stinging , throbbing and just pain. Can anyone give me some hints over the coming days until the wound has healed more that can help after the motions. How long is it likely to take before I get no pain at all.

Thanks

Can you cover with Vaseline when you go to the bathroom? I have heard also that if you can find some kind of bowl (used for this purpose only of course) throw away after you are healed... anyway fill it will warm water and sit in it to go to the bathroom. It has to be big enough to sit in a few inches. Messy yes but the pain is reduced 80%. Make sure to use stool softeners till you are healed. Laxatives can make things move too swiflty and cause pain. Clean with bleach and water and use again. Let me know if this helps.

      Hi  Sam

I was told not to put anything on the wound at all at anytime. Not sure why really the surgeon was not very nice and very abrupt. Not the person I originally saw  in the clinic. I will look into getting a bowl and defo try that out.

Would you know why they dont stictch the wound as to my way of thinking everytime I go to the toilet I will be back to square one.

Don't know anyone that has had this type of surgery to ask.

      Thanks

      Sandra

I do not know why he would do this. He sounds very unpleasant to say the least. I do not know anyone who has had this surgery but do know someone who has had fissure surgery in same area. It would seem he would stitch but I am not a doctor. I would try and and use Vaseline when going to bathroom and then take sits bath afterwards which should help take off the Vaseline. Worth a try.
