Small lumps throughout chest, CT normal

Hi,

I'm a male in my late twenties. For the past 2 years or so, I've noticed a number of small lumps develop in my chest, with most of them being located between the nipple and underarm on the left side, although some are also present on the right side. None of the lumpsare particularly painful, but I do feel a tightness and discomfort throughout the left side of my chest. A few months ago, I had a chest CT which apparently showed no abnormalities. I've seen a number of doctors about it and their best guess is that they are lipomas, but I'm having a hard time finding cases of people having 20+ small lipomas. Any thoughts? Cheers.

Its fairly uncommon to have multiple lipomas but it can happen and it may be due to genetics. ie you may have inherited a faulty gene. Ask your parents and any siblings if they get them. One of your parents may remember a relative who had them. If you get worried about them do go back to your GP,but they dont usually turn cancerous. If you are in UK the NHS would not remove them normally, and you would have to find a private consultant.
