Small, mono follicular whiteheads around mouth.

My skin type is oily and I am 26 years of age

Hi, I have been suffering from really stubborn whiteheads around my mouth ONLY for about three months. I know its not acne because the pimples are at one stage only. They are white and flesh coloured pimples and dont resemble acne white heads. I thought it was fungal acne and using anti fungal ketoconazole and zinc does help. The itching and the redness have gone down as well but the whiteheads are not completely disappearing! I have tried everything! Salicylic acid, AHA, Aloevera, sulfur... they are just not going away competeimagely. Also, I thought it was a skin barrier issue at first but putting rich creams causes even more whiteheads... they are the same size and are most likely fungal but I dont know why they are not going away.. they come and go as they please. And redness is still there, though burning and itchiness has gone down with my anti fungal routine.

p.s. Went to two dermatologists regarding this. One prescribed hydrocortisone and fusidic acid cream and the other an anti allergy. Neither worked. please help 😦

May I suggest a few things that may be of help? One is to keep your skin scrupulously clean with a mild, soapless face wash and a small very soft brush on the area to work up a lather. dry well then use a retinol based face cream or oil on the area. This may help to improve your skin, but please do try the retinol on a tiny patch first as some people react quite violently to retinol. I have recommended this to several people and it has helped.

Look at your diet: if you are hooked on chocolate or items that contain chocolate, then do try to cut them out.

Get out in the sun....using SPF of course. Sunshine is wonderful for clearing up spotty skin.
