Small ovarian cyst and painful periods but now periods have stopped?!

hi I'm 25 years old and generally fit and well. I'm not on any medication and have only ever been to the doctor twice through illness.

The first time I went to the doctor was around 18 months ago because my periods which I have suffered with all my life began to become so heavy and debilitating they were affecting my work and social life. I would become faint and have to change every hour. The pain was horrendous and I would be very pale and sweaty. I began throwing up at night and getting feverish. I had enough so I went to the doctor. They did a blood tests for hormones which came back ok and I had a scan which showed a small cyst on my right ovary and a slightly thicker lining of the uterus than would be expected which I was reassured was nothing to worry about so I felt I was wasting their time and just needed to deal with the fact I had abnormally heavy periods.

18 months on and I haven't had a period for four months after they suddenly stopped. My diet hasn't changed and neither has my weight but I don't feel well. I get alot of stomach pain and pelvic pressure as well as persistent bloating. I feel tired constantly, my hair is falling out. I'm not pregnant or more stressed I just don't know what's going on. I went to the doctor again last week and she felt my stomach and said it seemed fine and to go back if I haven't had a period in another two months because apparently until then they aren't too worried as there could be a vast variety of reasons why women don't have them. I know something isn't right but I don't know what I'm supposed to do. Any ideas about what this might be or have similar experiences with this?

I'm sure it's nothing to worry about but this needs investigating please go back to your gp and ask for further investigations repeat ultra sound, CT scan, bloods including ca125 & referral to gynae doctor. keep pestering them until you feel that this has been fully investigated. Your health comes first that what I have learnt thankfully my doctors listened to me and I have been well cared for. I had a dermoid cyst which has now been removed.

Hi thanks for the reply. I will pursue this further with my doctor as I have now also started to notice blood when I pee. I have always known there was something not right about this and I should have doneore but for some reason my main fear when I visit the doctor is not my health but the embarrassment of possibly eating their time. But it's about time I did something about this. I will mention the tests you gave suggested.

      Thankyou
