Small piece of skin poking out between outer labia

Hi ladies I'm in Peri Menopause and I seriously worried ?? I have noticed that I have a small fleshy piece just inside my outer Labia, you can only see it when you move the skin (sorry to be graphic) I'm so anxious about what it might be ? Is there anyone else who has this is it normal ? Any reply would be greatly appreciated ??????

It doesn't sound like a prolapse debbie, which is the focus of this forum. I would just get a nurse or doctor to have a look. Very often the lack of female hormones causes innocent changes in that area which is what it probably is. Have you posted on the menopause forum?

When we are peri menopausal or in the throes of the menopause our anxiety levels are raised anyway so we worry (me included) about every little thing. I actually have the same fleshy bit that you're talking about so please don't worry but do get it checked out x

Thank you sweetheart ???? so kind I really feel some relief when I get a reply on here ! I know it sounds silly but it's quite reassuring . . . I have an app tomorrow with the nurse but I'm dreading it just incase ! I probably won't sleep tonight now ???? have you had yours some time or only recently ? Are you getting it checked ? xx

I've had mine for a long time, in fact I can't remember exactly how long but I know it "appeared" when I was about 45-50. I mentioned it to my Urogynaecologist when he was examining me 6 years ago and he just told me not to worry.

Oh ok I'm pretty sure I've had mine for some years but the brain fog is confusing me ?? I had a smear 3 years ago and I am guessing the nurse would have said something if she felt it wasn't right ???? xx many thanks again for your kind reply x

I don't think it's anything to worry about as I have that too , sometimes mine swells up but was thinking it was something to do with my surgery but apparently it's normal i think I've seen more of my vagina these last 3mths than all my life lol xxu

Oh really ? Mine seems just to be on the right hand side ! I was so panicked when I saw it ?? It almost pokes out but only slightly but you can't see it when the curtains are closed ???? sorry for too much info ! Does this sound similar to yours ? I've got myself into such a state of anxiety over it xx thank you for your reply xx

Mines on the right hand side too I thought I had an extra inner lip lol I'm sure it's to do with us ladies getting older xx

I hope you're right ???? mine isn't really like an extra lip its fatter than that ?? Flesh coloured but perhaps the size of a small caplet sized tablet ?? Oh I don't how to describe it . .. Just seems a bit odd ? Oh well more stuff to worry about ! I just hope it's normal and is just part of me x

      Hi Debbie

This may be nothing but it does sound quite like the piece of skin I saw which made me realise I had a rectocele. It didn't hang out but was just inside. I think left any longer it would've prolapsed out. I've just had a posterior repair to correct it. Hopefully it's not this and I hope you'll be reassured when you see the nurse. You may want to see a doctor though, who can refer you to a gynaecologyst if needed.

      All the best

Hi Sue, it's not actually coming out of the vagina ? It's just behind the outer skin (labia) was yours skin coloured and like didn't hurt ? Now I'm worried xx

No mine didn't come out but I could see it when I opened up the vagina, and was skin coloured. It was a piece of vaginal wall that bulges. Yours may not be that so please try not to worry. Good luck with your appointment x

Hi Sue, mine is not in the vagina /birth canal itself it's outside of it right behind the Labia or at least that what I think it's not the easiest to see ? Feel terrible now with worry, haven't slept a wink and feel sick xx thanks for your reply

      Hi Debbie

Ok, well if it's there then it won't be a rectocele, as that's on the posterior vaginal wall.

Let us know how you get in at your appt. Try not to worry hun x
