Small, round bumps on my penile shaft

Hello all,

I have small, round bumps on my penile shaft. If I scratch them no type of pus, just blood, like scratching skin. If I stretch the skin the area looks white and you can't really feel the bump. They appeared a couple weeks ago and no more have showed up and they haven't grown. No itching, no pain. They are on the shaft and just a couple on the foreskin.

Thanks for the help in advance. imageimageimageimage

Those are fordyce spots, not infection or anything bad, just looks weird!

I believe them to be blocked hair follicles, more common if you shave your genitals. It maybe better to trim rather than shave. It is nothing to worried about, but as always if you do have concerns consult your GP. (I'm not a doctor, but have experienced the same).

Can I check what age you are?

You may have a mixture of natural development going on here, unless you are 30 years of age or older.

The risk situation would be if you have been sexually active recently and you had penetrative or oral sex without using a condom?

I would suggest you stop shaving the skin on the shaft of your penis for a few months until you fully know what is going on, and, if it is PURELY irritation of what has naturally grown then it will no longer be irritated. You can carefully trim with scissors for now if you wish ......

Hello, I am 31 years old. Sexually active with no condom but with just my girlfriend. What do you think it could be?

I fully agree with James - avoid the irritation and these will probably return to what you had before.

Note that even soaps and other body wash such as shower gel can be a source of skin irritation - always fully rinse your entire groin region when taking a shower, then fully dry with a clean dry towel that only you use.

They look like fordyce spots to me. I have a shaft full of them, and although most of them appeared when I was in my teenage years, they do appear later in life too. Do not try and pop or scratch them as you will just irritate the thin skin of the penis, and even worse, get an infection (which you really don't want!). I had two new ones appear a few months back which are quite prominent but I just leave them alone and they join the rest of them!
