Smear Results Have scared me

I will start with the history so hopefully this concern will make sense, back in 2013 i started to suffer with water infections, i was refered to urology and ended uphaving my baldder stretched, this worked until October 14 when the water infections started to re appear and the need to wee all the time was getting beyod a joke, water samples always show blood in the urine this is only visible through a dip test and not to the naked eye, a ST scan revlead there were no kidney stones but a collection of calcium in a artery, i was dischaged from urology as there was nothing further they coud do, since this time i have had a pain in the left side of my lower abdoman which is intermittent pain and tolerable i do not take pain killers just a warm bath works sometime the pain is worse around my period, this year i have had approx 3 water infections which have been cleared up by antibiotics, the infections mainly occur after sex, last week i had a smear test and the nurse said all looked okay but the results would be posted to me, today these have been received with a note that i have high grade dyskaryosis, having looked on the NHS webste i have completely scared myself to death as this test does not diagonse cancer but abnormalaties, I am so confused as the notes receieved say it is unlikely cancer is present and the abmormal cells can be removed but the link to cervical cancer symtoms are blood in urine, pain in lower abdoman for advacned cervial canceranyone experienced this or am i just over reacting

Hi LadyP. It could be nothing....but you need to make an appointment with your Doc to rule out anything sinister.

If it was anything sinister, I am sure the symptoms would have steadily got worse and worse, to the point where you would now be very debilitated.

BUT, you still need to see the Doc, as you are clearly suffering, and they need to try something else to help you.

Let us know how you get on. xx

Hi, sorry for late reply I have been waiting on test results. the water infection returned so a visit to the docs was needed, I saw a different doc who looked at my history he advised I'm prone to them and instead of treating the infections when they occurred a preventative treatment would be better for me, I am now taking 2 tablets at night time these seem to be working but I've only been taking them for 2 weeks, research has shown that other women on these meds who's water infections were far more frequent than mine have been taking them from 2/5 years will positive results and no side effects so fingers crossed smile as for the smear I had the colcoscopy early September the consultant showed me the abnormal cells and said I also had the HPV virus, she was confident I had either CIN2 or CIN3, the biopsy taken would confirm which, I left the clinic with treatment info for the 2 and was told to wait 2/4 weeks for the results. The results arrived at the beginning of the week informing me there are no abnormal cells and the cervical are healthy - please don't think I'm mad most people would be happy but now further confused how can the consultant be so clear of the diagnosis and the biopsy results be so different, the consultant is in leave for a week now so cannot be contacted have they got my results mixed up is what I'm thinking the consultant is an expert in this area any ideas??? Or am I just panicking over nothing ??

The problem with smears is that they can have too many false positives putting a woman through further testing, such as colposcopy and biopsy.  The latter is the most accurate.
