Ladies often are diagnosed with a polyp[s] after they have experienced bleeding/spotting after intercourse. As you havent mentioned any bleeding you are just going to be checked out for more polyps and you will be asked about any bleeding. You may be told the polyp should be removed and this can be done in Outpatients. If you decide it is giving you no problems you can decide not to have it removed, but in that case you will probably be told either to have it checked at the hospital or with your doctor at regular intervals. Polyps can grow and make smear tests difficult. A very very small percentage can turn cancerous, which is why it is a good idea to go along with the removal,so that a biopsy can be done.

Sometimes gynaecologists like to do a hysteroscopy to find out if there are any polyps inside the uterus. This would all be explained to you.

Removal in Outpatients clinic is very simple and you may experience a little bleeding. No intercourse for 3-4 days until you have healed. You may experience an ache like a period ache afterwards so try to rest for 24 hours.

    Above all,dont worry.
