Smelling Something that isn't there? Really worried .

So yesterday my little brother microwaved some food on a plastic plate and put it in there way too long I noticed the smell about 8 minutes after it was in the microwave I came out of my room and the whole house was smoking. He had burnt the plate so we got out the house and opened all the windows And I searched up if smelling plastic is bad and it is it can cause cancer and all sorts of other things so I was a little worried but not too much we went back inside and put this odor remover stuff on the carpet and went to bed I woke up today smelling cigarettes not strong but enough to know that smell and I didn't really mind to much because the house still smelled a little bit so a fewhours went buy and I noticed the house really didn't smell anymore but I still had that cigarette smell so I searched up what this could be and it said phantom smells and im so scared that I have schizophrenia or something wrong with my nerves I'm just worried and I'm wondering if anxiety can cause this and will it go away? I've been putting air fresheners in my room and the smell on goes away for a couple of minutes then it comes back I'm just really worried right now

First of all: take a deep breath. You are completely fine. I can guarantee you you will NOT get cancer or any sort of health complications from a burned plate. Adding air freshners does not eliminate smellls only masks them, and all your doing is irritating your poor nose with all those smells. It also does not mean you have  schizophrenia or anything like that, it's just your anxiety getting the best of you. As a now young adult who suffered these horrible irrational worries when I was young not but just a couple years back, I feel your pain. It may be just anxiety but anxiety sucks. Take a deep breath. Relax. Your oksmile  best of wishes to you

Get away from your brother. If he can't figure out how to use a microwave correctly, then it's not you who has the problem.

The girls only 16 David do you expect her to leave home? Her brother made a silly mistake that's all, I've left things on the hob for too long dozens of times.
