Smelly!

I have recently been diagnosed after several years of thinking it was all menopause-related (and my GP plying me with antibiotics and trying to cure thrush), so am greatly relieved as well as saddened by the diagnosis. I have avidly read all the other posts - very helpful, many thanks. I find that Dermovate (been using it about 2 months now) is a life saver - glad to know my sex life isn't completely over yet! Thankfully I have an understanding husband. I am now using Aloe Vera gel in between, also Epaderm ointment and Oilatum in the bath and as a soap (which stings a bit).
The thing I am finding most difficult is the SMELL! The gynaecologist said it was normal. I also find my urine smells as well.
I was very heartened to read of the person who has been using Dermovate for ten years. Am trying to keep positive.
Best wishes.

I have also just been diagnosed at 48. Was also treated for thrush and went through all the STD checks only to be diagnosed with this. I was only experiencing itching but now the odor has arrived and it is foul 😦 is this something we have to live with for the rest of our days? Or will it eventually subside? I am gutted to say the thought of having sex with this odor is not appealing. Don't notice it in my urine that much. I was prescribed Kloxema which really hasn't done anything at all. The itch isn't so bad anymore its just the odor makes you feel dirty all the time its really quite depressing.
Will it get any better or is this with us for life?

It is really horrible: the strong smelling dark urine and the smell caused by lichen schlerosus. I have actually found something that gets rid of the smell!
Take two tablespoonfuls of Apple Cider Vinegar in a little water every day. After three days it went! You have to keep taking it. Dont know why it works but it was a relief not to have to put up with that awful smelly urine.
Best of luck please try it.

Did that not hurt, cider vinegar is a acid. Urine when it touches lichens is painful. I can't imagine what acidic liquid would do, be it diluted. I'm not that brave.

Hi, during the pandemic I couldn't get to speak to a doctor like everyone else. I had persistent pain and itching a thought I was constantly getting thrush I also thought I had a unpleasant smell, I visited chemist for thrush creams, vaginitus creams but nothing helped. My pharmacist refused to give me any more cream, I was told I needed to be seen. I was embarrassed initially but was referred to gynae. It took 7 months but when I did get seen. They made me stay and have tests. My first appt was Dec between Dec and March, I had lichens sclerosis, biopsies turns out I had high risk vin3. I then had surgery to remove the vin 3. So now I know lichens untreated can turn to cancer. Although it goes through stages. I see a specialist every 6 months to check for progression. If I hadn't gone to my doctors I would have been no wiser, self treating what I thought was thrush.
