Hi all. So embarrassed but don't know what else to do. I actually am getting seriously depressed as It Is so bad.
I have been getting really bloated and pass the most foul smelling gas ever, it stinks and lingers in the room. I'm having to air my bungalow every evening.
I eat relatively healthy, excercise regularly and am slim.
This has been going on solidly for 2 whole months. I have tried eating different things but i just keep getting this awful smell! Sometimes I feel like I'm going to shit myself!! I can't have people over and am scared to go out when I know I'll be in a small space. I gave up my job!!
I have had to do a stool sample, all clear. The doctors just say I have IBS. They gave me colofac (mebeverine) which did nothing! I don't know what the hell to do!!
PLEASE HELP

JennyJames, I too have been having that issue for a month. Two things I think may have caused this. I am only 30 days sober off wine (all alcohol), and I have a UTI and took AVO for pain relief. With time I will know if those contributed. I am on antibiotics now.
How are you doing now?

I read the first several pages of this post. For me, I get terrible sulfur-smelling gas from a wide variety of foods, particularly nuts (especially cashews), artichokes, and other certain herbs. I don't even know what I get from gluten because the pain is so incapacitating and lasts for so many days that I've only touched bread once in the past ten years (and seriously regretted it). My body can tolerate A2A2 protein milk (brown cows, and non-cow milk) to a limited extent, but I do better with A2A2 cream (where the milk portion is removed). The nutrition is all in the cream anyway, as that is where you get your K2, D, A, etc.
Psyllium husk helps me when I take it regularly, as one person mentioned. The added fiber and moving things through helps a lot. Often just doing a quick home enema can relieve me from a night of gas so bad that I have to open my bedroom windows. The enema takes me about 30 minutes and saves me about 10 hours of suffering through the suffocating smell.
I get other weird smelling gas from other foods, like a compost-like smell from avocados.
If you want to know "what to eat" to really straighten out your gut, I can tell you The Plant Paradox is the best book I ever read on the subject. I'm a nutritionist and I've been avidly studying health, food, nutrition and biology for fourteen years, and that book is literally the best book on food I've ever read. I have some articles on his program and how it helped me on my website.
Even health professionals like myself struggle with these issues. In fact, we often get into healing services because we're first and foremost trying to heal ourselves (if not physically, then emotionally). It is really depressing to have your health symptoms interrupting your life, no matter who you are. The best thing you can do is empower yourself with knowledge. And whatever you do, try to avoid medications; it's my best tip for staying young and not messing yourself up worse. Change your diet in every way you can possibly try before using medications as a last resort.

only one remedy for Immediate controlling of rotten egg burps, cramping , pain and watery stool ... Peptobismol or bismuth equivalent .. No medical practitioner seems to have knowledge of this .. Take early to avoid the usual 48 hrs of pain and runs .. fast for a day then avoid large portions and eat bland until stomach settles . A precursor to this condition is usually constipation and slow transit of food . Medical practitioners pass it off as IBS and prescribe a proton pump inhibitor which could make the transit worse . If it still continues after following the above it could be an obstructive symptom which will require thorough medical investigation. Do not accept the generic IBS catch all diagnosis which is the one you're most likely to get
