BRILLIANT. You've done really well. My daughter gave up 5 years ago and she celebrates the day every year. I do remember she coughed nasty stuff up for some months. Its one of the most important things you can do for your health. I salute your strength as I know its not easy from my daughter. WELL DONE.

congratulations! ! I was able to quit last year with the help of the vape also. 35 years of smoking was using inhalers to be able to breath without weezzing. so much better now. I'm still short of breath a lot and I think it's related to the pmr but I could be wrong. I don't remember how long the cough persisted but I don't think it was that long.

I'm one of those annoying people who has never smoked so I only know second hand what's involved and that it takes a lot of determination so congratulations!

I just hope I'm never told I can't have my nightly scotch or that if I gave it up I'd feel 35 again.

Well done! Hang in there - your lungs will need a while to recover and are probably just getting "fit" enough to get rid of the gunk. Onwards and upwards!

I was driving along today and there was a pretty young Indian girl walking along the road smoking, my immediate thought was How Sad, then I realised I used to smoke when I was her age too. I did love smoking.

a little off subject of pmr (sorry all!)....but I started smoking at 21 when working for a large insurance company. everyone at my table during coffee break smoked except me....I felt so "weird" that I began to smoke....WOW, peer pressure is Brutal!

fortunately, I hated it and never got beyond 6-8 cigs per/day. But it Does give me pause!

Well done! I gave up nearly 30 years ago after smoking for nearly 30 and I still remember how hard it was. The feeling of wonder that I didn't smoke anymore often popped into my into my head, even years later, especially on occasions where in the past I would have wanted to smoke but couldn't!!

It may be a bit longer before your desire to smoke gives way to the wonder that you don't, so hang in there, it is well worth it.
