So confused

So I have been pretty distressed about this situation lately. I went to go get tested for STDs and came out positive for trich and chlamydia. The nurse practitioner told me that I needed to tell my past sexual partners so they could go get tested and treated also. So I did that and a couple days later one of the guys texted me and told me he came out positive for HSV-2. I went back to the nurse practioner and she told me that she wasn't going to test me if I haven't had any symptoms, which I haven't. This situation is hard because, honestly, I don't want to know if I have it but having that thought in my mind that I might just scares me.

If you want to know (and maybe it's not a bad thing to know, since you may have been exposed), you can do the IgG blood test for HSV-2 after 3-4 months from your last sexual encounter with that guy (IgG, not IgM, btw). You do not need to have symptoms for herpes testing, just make sure you have passed the test window period.

P.S. If the guy who gave you trich and chlamydia doesn't get treated and tested to be sure that it's gone, you can get either or both again from him, so take note.

Yes, it's a scary thought. But its not the end of the world. Learn from this lesson. At least it's not something worse. wink

I mean those two diseases all you have to do is get a shot of penicillin.. And you're good ..

On the other hand if you do happen to have herpes . It's a life changing events . And since you don't know you should go get tested ... Couldn't hurt .

If the results come back that you're negative then thank god .. And learn from this whole situation, condoms and safe sex can be a life saver ..

If you don't have any symptoms I would be on hold with everything.

Did you and the person who told you he is infected w/ herpes use a condom ?

I see what you're saying, it would be stressful to not know. Silly that the nurse wouldn't test you. Until you do get tested, I would not engage in any sexual activity for your sake and the sake of others. But as others said, understand that HSV is a whole new animal from chlamydia. You will cary the virus the rest of your life, and it will make an impact on your everyday life from time to time. If you are lucky enough not to be diagnosed, take this as a very lucky second chance.

Well then more then likely you don't have herpes .. Be very very happy .

Like I said a shot of pencilion is way easier to deal with then a life term virus like herpes !
