So confused about having a complex ovarian cyst

Posted , 4 users are following.

I am 39 and I have a 2.3 cm complex cyst on my left ovary. It was found on a ct scan and I had a 6 week check up 2 weeks ago. It has stayed the same size but have been referred to my gyno.  I am scared that I will have to have it removed but I was told by the ultrasound tech and nurses that complex cysts can go away on there own. But every where on google says it is not likely. Anyone out there with any help or reassurance would be great

I have a cyst on my left ovary that is 2.2 cm. I have had it for quite a while now. My gynecologist at first said removing it would not be the first option, it was a last resort. We waited about 2 months and it didn't rupture so we decided to try a high level birth control and I've been on it for a little over 9 months now. When I started the birth control my doctor said for some people it works and others it doesn't. In my case it hasn't done much, but generally removal isn't the first thing they recommend. So I'm hopeful that they will give you some other options and that removal won't be in the near future for you. smile

Is your cyst complex as well?  I don't know if birth control would be a good option because I am over 35 and I smoke. I am just so frustrated because I just want it to disappear on its own.

Yes, mine is also complex. Believe me I understand the frustration. That is the plan my obgyn came up with for me. And you're probably right birth control might not be the best for you. I would just express that you'd prefer to avoid surgical removal to your doctor so they can help build a plan for you.

Well that made me feel a little better that yours is complex too and mine is just a little bigger.  Google is a horrible place and I shouldn't be looking for answers there.  How old are you ? Was just curious.

Yes, it is a terrible place to look. I'm 15. I was 14 when they found the cyst.

My cyst was 6.5cms and was removed last year. It's not a major operation, easy to get over, don't worry.

Ty I am just freaking myself out. I thought maybe reaching out and finding other people who have been through it would make me feel a lot better. It is making me feel more calm. I just have such bad anxiety that I tend to overthink. 😕

I had a prolapse repair at the same time, also had a lot of adhesions from a previous surgery, beleive me the cyst wasn't a problem, although I had the ovary and tube removed also.

Well I I had my drs appointment today and he said although it is complex it is functional and that it is not anything to worry about no rechecking it will go away on its own.

Thank you I am so relieved and happy about the news. Google is definitely evil. I hope that I can help someone some day who might be going through the same thing and I can reassure them. Like I was by you.
