so constipated can anyone help?

I am very very constipated, even though taking Senokot and Dulcoeeze.

Have been told that I must limit amount of fruit and vegetables because of IBS so very difficult.  Has anyone else got this problem, if so, how have you coped with it?  I am only managing to go to the toilet once a week so feel nauseous as well.

Movicol is quite good as you can up the dose of that.  (Didnt work for me)

Bisocodyl tablets usually work. Take 2 at night. Glycerine suppositeries very good and natural.

    Fodmap diet is for IBS.

Prunes, prune juice, 2 litres water day,

    Probiotics good with high strength.

Oil on salads plus lemon on salads and lemon in morning in hot water.

    Hi,

Try using Pro Biotics Max 1 per day from Lyndens Apothecary. They're really good at helping with bloating and wind especially after meals.  Also really cut down on fruit, it's full of sugar which can cause fermentation if mixed with other foods if you suffer from IBS.  If you want to eat fruit have at least 4 hours between that and other food. Personally I don't eat a lot of fruit, but I do eat a lot of vegetables and protein (meat fish etc).  Also, we find eating maily chicken, turkey, pork and fish is less irritating than beef.

    Hope this helps.

high levels of powdered magnesium in water with high levels of vit C. Please do not take bowel stimulants...these do ENORMOUS harm. check out fibre maddness...or something like that....by a russian...oh can't remember name..but its surprising info!

I started to look at the fibre menace by the Russian and it is very interesting as I have slow transit constipațion and tried a high fibre diet building it up slowly over a month Also drinking 2 litres water day.I have also tried psyllium husks. However it resulted in me being totally blocked and it formed a "brick" inside me which eventually came out after taking a week of very high strengrth laxatives very hot baths and being in constant agony.

The specialist has now said not to take extra fibre

Thanks Patricia...had just found the ref...very pleased. So DEV this  recommendation comes from two of us...just another tool for your self help armourery

interesting...glad you found FIBRE MENACE...THAT S THE ONE !! Brilliant website and lots of strategies to try..I ordered the powder and it was a godsend .

The thing is to find the allegens that are causing constipation (or diaorrhea) and to cut them out for a while whilst the gut heals and seals ...he also provides a powder glutamine which is a precursor to glutathione...the master de-toxer ...so important to check inflammation in the bowel as its the seat of autoimmunity and all of the conditions incumbent on that.

very best wishes to you patricia and devmac

I also use LaxaCom a relief from constipation, there are many brands out there.

You may need to make changes in your diet, have you seen a Doctor and a Dietition, you may need to have a colonscopy done.

Good luck also do some research on your problems. Regards. Alexander.

Hi I don't suffer from this complaint but I have a sister who did.  Needless to say she dosen't now.  She suffered from constipation all of her life (now in early 90's) but since taking a simple remedy like multi-grain bread obtained from Sainsbury, she has been cured!
