Hi Ladies I am so relieved to have found you all... I thought I was going mad or turning into some sort of hypocondriac... I have experienced at least 80% of the symptons for Perimenopause.. blood tests have just come back 'satisfactory' I'm off to consult with the GP tomorrow armed with my new info and my new 'friend' Perimenopause.. I've decided that the best way to face this thing is to embrace it and try some of the useful ideas that you have all found .. so thank you all for being here .. apologies if this is not quite the right way to use forum but I really am grateful to have found you all....

Perfect way to use forum. You will love this site, it has helped so many of us navigate through these unpredictable days. I took information from here to my GP and GYN as well, it's been somewhat helpful for them. They still will poo poo some ideas (men) and now I'm using a female Naturopath as well to help smooth out some rough edges, I hope!
Good luck and welcome!

Wecome to the crazy train called perimenopause. This forum is so wonderful. I have really learned to get a grip on my anxiety that unfortunately came along with perimenopause. You will learn a lot on here. Good Luck!

Thats the right attitude, ' embrace it'
we cant avoid it, so we have to learn to accept it and ride the waves along the way.
I had a 10 year peri started at age 39/40
I am post meno now aged 50 ..
No HRT, helped mine by taking vits and supplements.
I Do now use a localised estriol for VA being post meno, but it doesnt combat symptoms other than VA ( vag dryness) yes its a long road, i feel quite proud & liberated, i dealt with it and accepted it, makes it an easier journey, i talk about mine to family, so if its an off and dizzy day, they know why and understand it all too.
Good luck

Yep, there is no much to do, only "embrance" and do the best of it.
Best thing is that you found you are not crazy... and not alone.

This is a wonderful site, particularly for us ladies! I have never heard someone mention peri as their "friend", but what a good analogy to use! It is an inevitable occurence for us all in some form or another, and it signals an end to years of "the curse" - that HAS to be a good thing!
Funnily enough, this morning, as I started bleeding again for the 4th time in just over 2 months, I had a very small fleeting feeling of, dare I say it, elation! Yippee! My body and mind, I now realise, have been cautiously sneaking up on peri for a number of years - awful mood swings, forgetfullness, depression (even suicidal thoughts for about a year, a few years ago), uncontrolable weepiness, aching joints - but so much has been happening (struggling with our business and finances, plus several unrelated-to-peri health issues), that the knowledge only recently hit me! Periods perfectly regular (apart from one that was 3 weeks late) until I turned 50 last October, then I had one every month but maybe a week early then several weeks late. January's on time but had 2 in February, 3 weeks apart, then the March one was 3 weeks after the last but only lasted 4.5 days (very conveniently fizzling out last Tuesday when I was facing a 2.5 hour journey down South, driving my parents' car down 3 motorways {2 totally unfamiliar} and having to find our accomodation and my brother's house - no Satnav, just visual memory from using Google Earth. I'd been stressing over it for weeks, then the period started and I calculated the pain-filled, clot-filled, heaviest days to coincide with the 2-day visit - but it just stopped!).
Er.....where was I? Oh yes ....... yesterday got the dull back ache and brown streaking that heralds a period, et voila - slight bleeding right now and a sudden fleeting dizziness this moment....
Had a weird dizzy spell whilst sitting peacefully in the supermarket yesterday lunchtime, as if the room was spinning but everything was still, then I felt slightly detached for about 30 seconds.....
I understand why periods can become further apart, and lighter, but I don't understand how peri can make your periods come so much closer together. I tried looking it up and several sites said go see the doctor. I don't like to bother him unless absolutely necessary, and I know hormone levels fluctuate so much so blood tests can't say much. He did do a hormone level test a couple of years ago, whilst testing thyroid, kidneys, liver function etc, and everything came back as normal, so he is aware of what might be happening. I would rather just keep entering things in my diary and see what pattern emerges........

when i was in early peri i bled for 21 months, it all varied from flooding, heavy, normal, light and spotting i was lucky to get two days free in the whole 21 months .. I had 3 faints too.. One in a very large store while shopping alone, ( paradmedics and police going through my mobile) my blood pressure was so low low hence faint .. It can all be very scary, these erractic hormones in peri ..
I have to eat little and often still or i feel abit light headed.
then after that i had two large follicular cysts on ovaries at different times, as then after that, i wasnt having regular periods and it took a good period to disperse the small orange sized follicular cysts stook there, but all sorted it self out, then a further 8 years after that for periods to decine to none .. ( 12 - 14 months no periods is post menopause)
Now i am 21 months post meno will be 51 in June ..
i dont take full HRT orally or patch etc just vits etc ..
good luck hun

Welcome to the Club!! You'll find so much support and info on here, you'll be amazed at how other women are coping without it!
yeah, think you're taking the right approach: almost like making the class bully your new BFF, so you don't end up their next victim
!!
I am a brilliant self-disagnoser (I prefer it to hypocondriac ha, ha
!), but truth be told, I am very fortunate not to have had anything major happen to me healthwise, nor have I had to take any meds long-term. Just as well, as I hate taking meds!
I hope you find answers to the extra 20% of symptoms that you may/may not experience throughout this bumpy Peri journey. I'm 54, can't tell you how long I've been Peri, still bleeding as regular as a teenager (grrrrrr!), and haven't a clue when things will change for me.
But I feel good at the mo. Only taking some Menopace Original vits/mins supps, which are working brilliantly for me personally regarding general mood and previously aching joints.
Have fun having a read around this wonderful forum!

I'm probably the worse person to ask, as historically I've never taken anything unless I feel like I'm dying! Paracetamol and the occasional Antibiotic have worked well for me.
But for this Peri mallarkey, I'm using a one-a-day multi vit/min supplement called Menopace Original. It has Vit B6, B12, Calcium, Iron, Iodine, Magnesium, Vit D, etc etc. I am very fortunate that I've never really been 'ill', and don't have to take any medication at all.
I could not be doing with taking these vits/mins seperately tho': life is a bit short etc etc: basically I'm lazy!
I'm also 'trialling' some bioidentical Progesterone Cream that I use on days 14-28 of my cycle. (Bought online: they generally advertise on this site, funnily enough, but I won't give the name in case I get stuck in the 'Naughty Room' with the Moderators
!!).
Since I've been using these products (started 1st Jan), I have to say that I feel 100% better, both physically and mentally. My overall mood's good/lifted, and my creaking, aching joints that were really doing me in (left shoulder & elbow, sometimes neck, upper back between shoulder blades) are a million times more comfortable.
I can only assume, as I've never been one for taking vits etc, I must have been almost completely depleted in them all for them to benefit me as much as they seem to be doing!
I'm always singing the praises of Menopace, but I have to say that its purely based on my own personal experinece of the stuff. Plus, its cheap: got a '3for2' Deal in Superdrug, so I'm more than happy all round
.
If you're not in the UK, I'm sure one of our American 'sistas' can give you an idea of something very similar that you could try in the US.
Hope today's been a good one for you!

Well thank you so much for the lovely welcome. I have replied to myself to share with you all, and thank you all.
The GP Consult went very well, although the blood tests where apparently *Satisfactory* the Hormone tests revealed it's secrets the little blighters, she said. It quite clearly Indicated that I was In Peri Menopause, I could have kissed her, (But I didn't) lol I went in there thinking I had to convince her it existed!. She gave me the option of HRT if I wanted. Not a route I am going down, I will use as many of the natural supplements as I can glean from all your experiences to find a combo that will hopefully work for me...
I am quite elated at the moment, I honestly believed, up until two nights ago, that I was suffering some deadly disease.
I will be back regulary, hopefully I will be able to help others in time.
THank you thank you thank you..
