SO excited to find this group!!

My pain started about 3 months ago ( waking me up at night). I also have impingment. I had a cortisone injection that unfortunately didn't help at all. I've started PT and was SO relieved to read other people's comments about how incredibly painful these manipulations are!! I know people are tired of hearing me complain, but it's just really shocking to be in all this pain! A few years ago I had arthroscopic surgery on my hip for what they thought was a torn labrum. When the ortho got in there, though, he said no tear, just a lot of inflamation and everything was super-tight. The surgery was a success and my hip has been great. BUT now I'm wondering why it seems to be "attacking" my shoulder??! I've noticed other people on here saying they're had more then one joint affected- does anyone know why? I do have Hashimoto's/Hypo thyroid, but my bloodwork is always normal with Synthroid. Is there any preventative things that can be done or are we more likely to have issues with other joints once we start having problems? Again- SO relieved to have other people that I can include when I say "we"- I feel so alone out in the real world with this pain!!

I'm so sorry to hear you are in pain, I know the pain well. It is all consuming. I don't think there is anything preventative we can do, I'll be interested to read other replies. I ended up having surgery on my shoulder which has taken me from constant pain to aching some days, I'll take that! I send you my best wishes and I recommendation that you see a shoulder specialist ASAP.

Thank you smile I did see my ortho initially- he actually did my hip surgery a few years ago. I go back to see him on May 27. How long ago was your surgery? How was recovery? Did you have to do PT afterwards? I only have 15 visits a year with my insurance and I'm worried I'll use them all up and then end up still having to have surgery. I am just so happy to have found this group!!! smile

I had capsular release surgery in October 2014. Prior to the surgery I had hardly any movement in my arm/shoulder and was becoming clinically depressed due to sleep deprivation and constant pain. Recovery was quite fast, I was back at work part time after two weeks and back to 'normal' after a month. I'm so glad I had it done. Hope that helps and please know everyone on here from all over the world understands your pain and feels for us all!

Oh the pain! Some days worse than others. My hubby who is a restless sleeper forgets my arm is sensitive. So the second he moves, I wake up and instinctively protect my arm and I even say, "Hay..watch the arm!" I've taken a break from the painkillers, because I just don't want the added problem of addiction or a ruined stomach/small intestine. That will just end me! So, the last week I've had throbbing, which really makes me grumpy and I'm just so damn tired. I yawn through everything.. fatigued..exhausted. Tomorrow I have to give a presentation and I just feel a bit flat. Might take ibuprophen tonight to get a better sleep for tomorrow. I spoke to an elderly lady yesteday who said she had frozen shoulder years ago. She said, she didn't know what was wrong and just left it and then one day bam...it was fixed. She said it was in her mid-40s. She's almost 70 and says she remembers how painful it was. Lucky her, it didn't move to another joint. She said that she thought her body was trying to tell her to slow the hell down. She's funny! So..there's hope. One Arm Hug for you darling xxx

Hahaha! I just gave someone a one-arm hug today- I get so nervous when people come at me....Lol!! I had a frozen hip a few years ago (ended up having surgery), but I did develop an ulcer and the pain was HORRIBLE!! I am very leary of ibuprophen and acetominaphen - it is really frustrating. I was just prescribed Tramadol, but it makes me a little loopy wink and probably isn't any better for my stomach. Thank you for the kind words- I hope you survived your presentation!
