So fatigued all the time.

I'm a 20 year old female and for the past few years I have found myself just so tired all the time. I don't wake up feeling refreshed & I struggle to stay awake during the day. My past history includes vitamin D deficiency and severe depression however these are pretty much not active anymore. I'm not on medication for either.

Ive been to the doctors who have done my iron levels which came in at 7. They seem to just put it down to the fact of my past history that I may be 'stressed' or 'feeling low' I've insisted that my mood is fine but I can't think of what else it may be?

My my mum has been diagnosed with sleep apnoea, could it be related to this? Or may I be lacking in something else?

HELP PLEASE!!

At this point, it could be a lot of things. Don't let doctors tell you it's all in your head. You may want to get tested for sleep apnea first. If that comes back negative, get a complete bloodwork panel done. ME/CFS is a diagnosis of exclusion, so you have to make sure it's nothing else first.

Will make you feel very very tired go back and ask for a full blood count and get then to print you results. Not ok to be sent away empty handed - I'm very shocked!!

    You need more testing.

I think testing for what your mum has definately makes sense.  Thyriod is of course the big one.  I would also explain that you wonder if you have ME/CFS but understand for that diagnosis it is a product of ruling out other possibilities.  Therefore please could you do the tests required to check it out.  That living like this doesn't seem to be improving and that could you please have help.  The way you are feeling is ruling your life and that you want things to change. Good Luckx

I'll do my best. I just never like to be seen as 'over exaggerating' that's all. I appreciate all your answers, another appointment is in order I think! Take care x

sleep apnoea is usually weight related causing difficulty breathing during sleep.  if your iron levels are low it could be anaemiaVitamin d deficiency can be poorly absorbed if you are obese.  plenty of sunshine will give you vitamin d and eggs are good too.

Thank you all for your replies.

I know my BMI is healthy so it may actually have nothing to do with sleep apnoea. It's interesting to hear all your feedback regarding blood tests etc.

So I guess I need to get myself back to my GP for more blood tests, hopefully they will listen to me this time. I've thought about going privately but it's just so expensive. I also work in a doctors surgery and have actually had to speak to them a few times.

Thanks again for all your replies!!

Just another word here about sleep apnea. You don't need to be overweight to have it. I'm quite thin, and my doctor said I could have it. I went through the test, and it turned out I didn't have it. But the point is, this doctor, who is a specialist in sleep apnea, wanted me to be tested for it.

Yeah my mum had to have her thyroid removed as I believe it was over active, they have checked my thyroid and it was within the normal range, same with my glucose.. It's just all getting rather frustrating.
