So frustrated

Well my journey so far is a long one, this started over two years ago, started with dizziness now and then and I thought my menopause was kicking in after I had a hysterectomy. I saw the GP he did a full blood count and a menopause test, the menopause test came back negative but my full blood count was showing I have high red blood count, after another six months of testing my blood I went to see a heamotologist, after another six months of tests, it was confirmed I didn't have polycythemia Vera a rare blood cancer, but by now my dizziness was getting worse and anxiety because I was beginning to hate travelling in a car for nausea and sickness, my menopause was positive now. So my GP sent me to see a neurologist, he straight away diagnosed me with vestibular migraines, with no tests done and I was put on Nortriptyline 10mg to take on a evening, it's not helped so now on 20mg, still no better, my symptoms are dizziness and overwhelming fatigue, I feel drunk all the time, I now have this 24/7 Ive this really heavy head feeling and now starting with twitching muscles, pins and needles in hands and feet, my last blood test showed I had high ferritin too, high red blood cells and high Uric acid, my GP has tested me last Monday for autoimmune because and now thinking MS, my question is to you guys is dizziness a symptom?  Brain fog? Forgetfulness, loss of concentration, fatigue? Twitching of muscles? Pins and needles? I get my results back next week, I'm also going to go back to see my neurologist because the Nortriptyline is not helping and apparently it's a wonder drug! Julia x

Hi Julia. Has your GP or neurologist mentioned hemochromatosis? It's a disorder that's brought about when too much iron is built up in your body. It can be autoimmune or hereditary. It's most common in postmenopausal women and causes fatigue, weakness, brain fog and pain. Left untreated it can adversely affect organs.

I'm in no way saying I think this is the cause of your symptoms but your lab results make it seem worthwhile to rule out.

    Best of luck to you!
