So glad they are gone!! My exerience 4 weeks post op

I had my Total Abdominal Hysterectomy on January 20th. That experience for me, was horrible. The only thing I remember from the actual surgery was waking up screaming and falling asleep, then waking up screaming multiple times during recovery. I am not going to lie, it hurt! But then the morphine kicked in... and life was better.

My doctor told me I was the worst case he has ever had in his 13 years of practicing. He even took a picture of my uterus in a bucket. My fibroids grew on top and below my uterus, and even grew roots.

I totally want to post a picture of it.... because I think it's cool looking and so you can see the severety. ( But I wont)

I lost a lot of blood, so had to get a blood transfusion. From that I got a blood infection... and I also developed pnemonia. ( Hope I spelled that right, if not you get the idea) I had to stay in the hospital 8 days, which was a real pain.

Well, 4 weeks later and I am able to finally do things. Today I washed the dishes and cleaned the kitchen and cooked. ( because nobody does it as  good as me) and cleaned my bedroom. But then I got tired. I still get tired. And also sometimes I still feel pressure in my stomach. My husband still doesn't let me carry anything heavy.

Hi glad it all went well and your feeling better but I wouldn't get carried away doing things. Your body still needs time to recover its a big operation plus you were ill after. Let your hubby help you and you rest you while he's there, you can fix everything when your well enough :-)

Sounds like an horrific experience but glad you are recovering well. I think I might find myself in the same situation but want to look into UEF first. I remember when my gynae removed a large ovarian cyst I had and told me it was fascinating, it had hair, bone and teeth! I dread to think what my uterus looks like with all these fibroids, I can feel all the lumps and bumps and how it's grown lopsided.

Your cyst had TEETH!! Omg. That would certainly explain some of the pain I get, does feel like something is gnawing away at my insides!

Did they explain what caused that? So fascinating.

Yes it was a dermoid cyst on the ovary (google it and you'll see what it is), mine was about 7 cm diameter when it was removed. I think they tend to be hereditary, my mum had one too. When they removed hers they did a total hysterectomy, unnecessary but now with my trouble with the fibroids I wish the'd done the same with me ( it was after both my pregnancies).

Wow sounds awful, fingers crossed i will get my hysto but wont be as bad as that.  i have my gynae appt on 25.02 to see what 'management' they want to do, as when i had my surgery they went in but couldnt do my UEF or removal of my fybrios as they found a large 5cm blocking my womb and couldnt get past it. so they had to stop the surgery.  They didnt find this rouge fibroid 2 weeks prior as i had a scan then!

The picture sounds great lol - something that i would find interesting lol

Thank you all. I forgot to mention my Dr. had to leave a little a little piece of cervix inside of me because of my heavy bleeding. He told me I may or may not still have a period. Which was disappointing  because that was the only thing I was happy about throughout this whole situation.

My sister in law had a 10lb fibroid!! I am so fascinated on how these horrible things begin to grow in our bodies.

I'm so glad you are recovering well.  I'm sorry that you went through so much pain. I'm probably in the same situation you were in. My fibroids are so huge there is no other alternative. I've just been putting it off because of fear.

~Blessings and light for a quick full recovery.
