Hi.

I was on six steroids a day decreasing by one each week to nil, got down to 2 a day and the pain was getting to so doctor increased amount to 4 a day again until I see him next on 14th July, but now the pain is unbearable on my right side low down, just above pubic bone and go's up and kinda over hip curve into my back.......it's like a intense stabbing pain, which is always worse in the mornings. It wakes me up in tears, can't stand up straight or lift anything. Not really had this pain before, getting a bit concerned, considering going to a walk in centre today, been taking co codemal for the pain but it didn't seem to do anything. My partner is at his wits end and dosnt know how to help me, I don't know how to help myself at the moment either!!! Has anyone else had the same thing? Any suggestion plz would be great..thanks Nicci

Yes I have prescription strength and they do help with pain a bit and the running to the loo! Lol

I would go to the walk in centre in that case. You could have a restriction.

    Dear Nicola

Definetly go to walk in centre, you should get this checked out, it may be that the inflammation is still flaring and you will have to prolong the decrease in steroids and/or try an immune suppresant while decreasing steroids- is your Dr a GP or gastro specialist? If not specialist ask for urgent refrerral, take someone with you as this can be hard to insisit on when low and in pain. Good luck XX

A lot of similarities there with me.

I was diagnosed with Crohn's after big flare up in Feb/Mar time. I didn't get much pain at the time but all the other stuff bloating wind going to loo 10+ times/day and bleeding.

My prednisolone course has reduced from 8/day to 1/day and in my last week with plan to start azathioprine after jabs for chicken pox.

I've had pain in left below rib area and round back in kidney area since dose went down to 2/day. Comes and goes and feels like stitch when running. As far as I'm aware not got the widespread inflammation which put me on steroids but things not quite right and I'm not sure what pain meds one can take.

Am contacting IBD support nurse tomorrow.

Think you should see your doc or specialist asap and if the pain is increasing in intensity then go to walk-in or A & E.

I wish you well and freedom from the pain xxx

    Regards

      Dear Pete W

Saw your comments about back and side pain while on aza

I had to stop aza after a few weeks due to severe thigh, rib,and lower back pain and fatigue felt like the sort of crampy ache you get if really cold and holding self really tense so much it hurts???

Hope you are being blood monitored weekly for first four weeks then monthly after?

After aza didn't work I was tried on mercaptopurine which was stopped after just two weeks as messed up liver levels....now on methatrexate and folic acid weekly....fingers crossed its a flaming nuisance this disease, and you have my sympathies keep her chin up good luck.
