Well a few years back I started experiencing anxiety and depression with symptoms such as fear , panic attacks , chest pain and left hand pain etc . Did numerous tests for heart and stuff all came back normal. I started going to a psychiatrist and he started me on paroxetine. A year before he asked me to take a thyroid test and it shows my TSH to be around 4.42 and with total T4 5.01 and normal total T3. He started me on 25mcg of levothyroxine. He said I had to continuously akte these medication. After a few Google search I found that with these levels it is not necessary to take levothyroxine. Should I continue or should I stop taking it. Thanks. I am 21 year old male

The reference range varies based on who you ask. Some experts think the ranges should be tightened for more optimal function.
TSH 0.4-2.5mlU/L
T4 5-12 mcg/dL
T4 free 1.0-1.8 ng/dL
This varies from person to person though. I had a TSH of 6.3 and a T4 of 1.0 when I was first tested and at that time I had severe hypothyroid symptoms. My hair was falling out rapidly, I had severe insomnia, chest pain, 150 LDL, edema, cold, basically the whole package. I would say that if you had symptoms before and you are not now then you should continue taking the Levothyroxine. If you really want you can get tested again and maybe your doctor will try taking you off to see. You most definitely do not want to be not taking it when you should, heart pain at 21 is not part of the recipe for a long and healthy life.

when you say left hand pain, is it like constipation like everything has stopped moving and becoming infected because if it is thats what i get and levothyroxine is the only thing that has actually almost cured this.?

Listen to your GP, everyone is different, google tends to be generalise on giving advice. Its not targeted at specific people that go through problems in specific ways.
