Social anxiety?

Anyone with social anxiety ever feel like you are misinterpreting a person's tone, facial expression, body languages and interpret them in ways that are negative? For instance, you say something and view the other person's tone, look, face, etc as them being totally uninterested or thinking that you are strange or a weirdo?

Yes, I definitely know what you mean, I have social anxiety. My trouble is, most of the time I believe I'm interpreting them correctly which is still difficult to deal with.

I can totally relate to that. I struggle with it all as well. I'm a decent honest person really but I feel like people see me completely the opposite. It does my head in like I'm living in a crazy twilight zone. But I just try to let it go constantly, and focus on things that interest me. And meds are helping to a degree as well.

Hi nclgraham. Well, I'm so uncomfortable around all these people who I believe are acting weird toward me in the first place, that I just focus on remaining composed. I'm not doing anything wrong. Not interested in cracking jokes either - if people want jokes they can go and hang out with bozo the clown. I do speak my mind with people though if I feel I need to, but that's taken me a while to learn. But on the whole I'm courteous and to the point. I'm in my 40's now so I know whats appropriate and whats not. I'm not interested in fitting in though, I just want to get through my life in one piece with as little to do with people as possible. I know I have my problems but a lot of people who think they don't have problems are messed up.
