Has anyone been approved for SSDI in the US?  I am going through the process now.  Any pointers?

Thank you

I just applied also. My attorney said it could take up to 3 years. Good luck

I applied and was denied, I hired an attorney who said it should be about a year and half.  Crazy because my Dr’s (3) have agreed I can no longer work.  Just bites.

I'm sorry Willows. I hope everything turns out the way you want it. It's frustrating to think that you are at the point that you have to turn to that, but that's what is there for. To help when the going gets too tough.

I did some research and MD is on the list of acceptable conditions that warrant SS approval. I've heard it's impossible to get without a SS attorney and that most everyone gets turned down the first time and has to win on appeal. That's not researched tho...just what I heard.

Gotta get your docs on board and be super thorough.

I wish you all the luck in the world. Don't give up!

    All the best,

I applied  in Feb 2018 and was denied in April 2018. So discouraging.  It sounds like involving an attorney would help. I also heard it is usually initially denied.

Don't give up. Pursue this. It is such a debilitating illness

I was told from my attorney the first time is always a denial. Getting a attorney is the best decision because they do all the paperwork saves me from the stress

I have an attorney and my Dr believes with how bad my balance testing came out, with the diagnosis of MD, complications from the Sac Decompression I should be approved.   But I’m not holding my breath.

I was turned down the first time so then I got an attorney an it took two years had to go to a hearing before a judge but I got approved all together it took about 3 years counting the denial the first time. Stick with it it’s a long drawn out process and believe me they don’t get in a hurry.

I am glad you were approved.   I don’t understand how they can deny you in 3 months but then take years to approve you.

      Have a good day!

My balance I scored 94/100 which is considered a severe balance disorder.  My fall risk ranks in the severe category also.  My hearing is at a 35% loss.  I have a mastoid defect from the Endolyphatic Sac Decompression.  The outline my lawyer had given me, I have been through all the testing, PT.   Did you meet  all the requirements and was still denied?

Suprised you haven’t with a MD diagnosis.  1st thing my ENT. Did was the caloric test and balance testing.   You definitely need to get these and a hearing test done.
