Some forums leave me feeling worried

I am on an National osteoporosis forum and reading it lately has left me very nervous. My t scores, -4.6lumbar are bad but, as some on here know, I am trying to not use meds. I had been feeling quite positive with This forum but have read how others with much better scores have fractured just from walking , getting out of bed etc and wonder is this what lies ahead for me. Being disabled from fractures. I don't understand

We are all so different on this forum. Osteoporosis is in itself a frightening condition and there are many ways for us to tackle this. My T-scores put me in the Osteoporosis range but they are not that bad, spine -2.9 for instance. I have never yet fractured a bone but have suffered collapse of L1, 2 and 3 vertabrae leaving me in a painful and uncertain condition. I have taken the natural route to improve my scores, ie fish oil which means I eat oily fish at least 5 times a week mainly as lunch leaving me free to eat meat at main meals. This includes lots of leafy greens, cucumber with the rind on etc. I tried AA but it caused me gastro-intenstinal problems to such a degree I stopped taking it. After speaking at length to my Rheumatologist I have decided to have Infusion treatment once a year for 2 years because part of my spine has already crumbled and now my neck vertabrae are heading the same way. Yet my T-scores do not appear to match up with what has already happened. I understand that some will prefer the natural route entirely and some, like me, will have to consider combining natural with medical treatments available. It is entirely up to each individual which way they go and I have always found a lot of help on this forum in making the decision to combine. I am fighting breast cancer at the moment and because of my bone density problems I am unable to have Chemo which would strip my bones of calcium remaining. But I had made my decision to combine before the cancer diagnosis. I guess I would really like to say to members not to be discouraged when the natural route may appear to be heavily recommended because every case is different and decisions must, at the end of the day, be made armed with full information and be the right decision for yourself. I have not met with any criticism on this forum for combining. These personal choices should be encouraged and supported. So Michele, arm yourself with as much information and research as possible, talk with your Rheumatologist (or Bone Doctor if you prefer) about the side effects of AA and other forms that can be taken under medical supervision, look into the natural remedies that have helped others and decide what is best for YOU. I wish you well

This might be helpful. The American College of Physicians recently published a review of the evidence for those with low bone density. The summary recommendation for use of the standard drugs is :- strong recommendation/high quality evidence of effectiveness
