some good news

Finally spoke to the Surgeon nothing earth shattering but it was good to hear. I have lots of pain and swelling there is nothing good about any of it. The nurse has been worried about my pain and swelling same with the therapist getting ahold of my Dr. is tough but its not all his fault he had his knee done 4 days after mine. So as much as I as well as others have told everyone be patient I am guilty as well. I have had unreasonable expectations concerning my recovery. The facts are I have had 18 surgeries 6 of which have been replacements he said it might take 6 months or longer before I start feeling better. He also said and Chico will appreciate this I have to exercise and push it. It is going to hurt but the harder I push the faster it will get better. This was not exactly what I wanted to hear but at least its not getting worse all the results have come back good its just going to take a lot of work on my part. So the pain did not go away but its much better knowing that given my situation everything is okay.

    I am happy for you.

Indeed the more you push the sooner you get better.

It ain’t easy, but in the long run, it’s worth the pains and the frustrations to be able to  walk and sit and get up without pain.

At a point, I thought that would never happen to me.

I am trying to conquer the staircase. I understand not everyone does get to be able to go up and down the stairs without holding the rails, but I want to be one of those who are able to.

Am giggling about doing stairs....I was so used to not doing stairs properly for 20 odds years (just one at a time) that I forget I can now....need to train my mind too.....going up is not brilliant and coming down is scary but mainly because I have back problems impeding me BUT I can go up without any pain now and I am 7 1/2 months post op - just a little lateral pain turning and getting in and out of bed.......I used Chicos philosophy with stairs after 5 months as was getting no-where fast with dragging bad leg after good, so went bad first and it sped the whole process up and stopped me thowing my body into the equation and launching myself at the steps...brilliant advise as always Chico....Good luck everyone....but I will always use a hand rail but only for my safety at my age !!
