Some good news at last

Hi everyone

I havn't been able to walk much at all for  the last ten weeks after my left THR because my right hip had collapsed after only a couple of weeks.

I had a phone conultation with my GP and she has changed my pain meds to slow release tablet morphine x1 every 12 hours and paracetomol 500mg x 2 every 8 hours. I took my first morphine tablet tonight 2 hours ago and took 2 x paeacetomol an hour ago and although there is still pain I can deal with it and can actually walk. I am not going to risk full weight on my collapsed hip because I think that would possably make things worse. I see my consultant on Thursday so will ask when he can operate now the celulituse is almost gone along with most of the swelling. I only have to take two more anti biotics tomorrow and the course is finished.

I know my op won't happen till september and my surgeon is away for two weeks in August. But at least I am now on the mend and can walk even though it is not as it should be.. It is so good to be out of pain enough to be able to relax and hopefully have a good sleep tonight for the first time in many months.

      Hi renee

The pain was stopping me from recovery of the hip op. I did have a little pain from the right hip before tyhe op. But once it collapsed the pain was so bad I could not get out of bed for 3 weeks. I was scaerd of getting dvt. I was not able to do any physio and still hav had no pysio which should have started at week 6 after my op. I go to physio on August third. but that is for assesment only not for any fitness things. I need to build my muscles up and I have not been able too and it is so frustrating when you have been told to do som, ething and you justy can't when you really want to. Still hope this is all behind me now.

      Thank you renee. ((( hugs)))

      Hi Christine

Thank you. Yes I have had a pretty rough time &10 weeks of extreem pain and no one listening is a bit much.

I do feel so much better and can see a light at the end of the tunnel now the first hip is done and I can move a little easier. Still got to wake up at 3 am to take some more pain meds. But better than to wake up in pain later in the morning.

    Hi Hailea

I am so glad you are out of that bad pain- my joint had collapsed prior to my op and the pain really pulls you down doesn't it?

Hopefully you won't have to wait too long for your op and now have something to focus on and look forward to

God bless and have a good night

I just can't get to sleep tonight and didn't  have a sleep during the day so feel absolutely knackered

    Hope you are sound asleep

    Kind wishes Linda xx

      Hi Linda

Thank you and No I am still here. I tried to go to bed and lay flat the collapsed hip was having none of it and I got pain in the hip and the shin. I am going to have to stay up till my next meds at 3 am now.

I guess these meds won't  take all the pain away. but I was hoping it would at least let me sleep without having to sit up all the time. but it is not to be.

Yes you are right the  from a collapsed joint is  like having a broken bone I guess.

I am hoping for September now if he leaves it any longer I don't know what I will do. Will find out on Thursday.

Sometimes sleep just won't happen and if you can't relax not m uch you can do about it. I am glad I have DVDs to watch and my ipad. So plenty to keep me occupied.

Hope you get some sleep soon x

      Hi Hailea

You need to really push for your op to take place asap. I had to pester the life out of my surgeon to get a date as I had been waiting so long and it does make a difference - a case of those who shout loudest

You have to look after Number one when you are at the pain levels you are at as they are so debilitating

Hope you are watching something good - I am just going to do my shopping online - that seems to roll round so quickly each week!

      night night

Oh my surgeon is great. hge knows I am in real pain now. I can't have myop till at least september. I need to get rid of the celulitus in my skin and I also have to have some physio. My surgeon has promised me as soon as I have got rid of the skin problem he will have his ho;iday and get me in A.S.A.P. he has promised me that. he has seen how bad I am because I am still going to clinic in a chair instead of walking and I have been in tears in his office telling him how bad it is. Don't worry he deffo knows.

I am watching fast and furious and then matrix.

Enjoy your shopping. Yes I am so glad I can have my shopping delivred too. Although I can't wait till I can go myself again. It has been almost 2 years since I have been able to go shopping. The rainy days drag for me the sunny days are not so bad because I can go sit in the garden even if it is a bit of a mess at the moment because I can't look after it.

      Night night. x

Glad your pain has been managed better, it's bad enough being immobile but the pain is crippling in so many ways. I hope the pain meds helped your sleep as you hoped.

You will feel amazing once you get your surgery, stay positive.

    Hi there,

I've been on the morphine / paracetomol mix for a while now waiting for my op. As my other hip has joined in the party too recently I'm very grateful for these meds as they allow me to function too. Sleep well!

      Hi Patricia

I have been on pain meds for over 3 years now. I had fulkl mobility for the first two although a few little niggles but when it got to last year it started getting really bad in both hips.

The pain of the collap.sed hip is not allowing me a good quality of life at all and mobility is next to nothing. I hope I won't have to wait longer than september. I don't think I could stand it much longer.

Being in constant pain is very debilitating, I find myself dissolving into tears watching TV ads for water aid! I also get very fed up with myself and thethings I can't do! There is a light at least, hang in there. XXX

Yes it is patricia. If we treated animals like the way some are treated we would end up in court. Yes I know what you mean. I get fed up and really frustrated because I just can not do what is being asked of me by the hospital or the physios booklet I was given. It just is physically impossable.

The tunnel I am in has been and still is a long one.I can see a speck of light there. But I am sure  something will come along where I go side ways and loose it again.

I am so fed up with not being able to walk very well. I am so fed up because I have not had any physio at six weeks post op like I should have done and then my other hip collapsed then I get another problem then another one. It really has been a roller pcoaster ride and I am not looking forward to having my next hip op at all. I still have 2 surgery's to have even after this is done so life  as an NHS lab rat continues.

I have to have cateracts removed from both eyes so that will be 8 operations in under 4 years.

keep your focus on the speck of light, hailea ...

it will get bigger and brighter -

lots of love and healing send your way

      Oh Hailea

You have got a lot on your plate. Cataract recovery is very swift and so successful - my mum had hers done.

You  will get there - do have faith although I know it can be challenging when all these issues happen at once

      Be brave

      All good wishes Linda xx

Yes I have really been through it the last three years.

Yeah I know cateract recovery is quick. I just don't like the idea of being awake when they do it.eek

I just hope they don't find anything else to remove / fix or mess about with. I have had enough of hospitals to last a life time

      Thank you Linda x.
