Best medicine out there for anxiety, panic. Out of many years of side effects,ER visits and never feeling quite right, got off paxil,(which was awful, not helpful). Effexor xr came out and new Dr. Put me on it. Gave me my life back and I went back to school and work. I know its difficult coming off for some, not me but over ten years I was on it. No complaints I took 75 mg at time. Went on another new one then to try with no complaints, and effexor xr is my back up for future. I cannot take any other antidepressants out there as I tried them all with poor results. Only these two drugs gave me the best quality of life. Good luck.

Hi Gina. As for me, it didn't help my depression and the withdrawal is awful. But I'm only one person. I'm sure there may be others with success stories. Good luck!

This drug saved my life. From 1989-1995 I was extremely ill with depression and they tried many combinations before this one was invented. None worked. I went on the maximum dose and it took me from non-functional to being able to work in a highly competitive career and have three children with no relapse for nearly 20 years. I tried coming off it a few months ago to see if I could manage without , but the depression came back 12 weeks later so am back on it on a medium dose and very glad it exists. Like all medications this one suits some people and not others and everyone has a strong opinion.
