Some relief for me!!

Finally instead of a push mower that is so much fun to push with a bad knee I finally have a John Deere Tractor. Started with a Toro w/ a 52" cut but the starter went bad found someone local and I worked out a trade. The John Deere looks and runs great. It is so much easier to sit down and cut the grass. My knee is so very grateful.

Until you have a screwed up knee or a TKR in my a book of surgeries you really do not thing about your knees. Now unless you are recovering from a knee surgery or on going issues with your knee this discussion makes perfect sense. Cutting the grass w/ a push mower with a bum knee is no fum.

Yes I found my Hayter mower too much strain on my knee after a TKR plus I have a ?trapped nerve. Fortunately my son has a couple of countax mowers which he cuts  a large land plot next to my garden so also now cuts  my grass for me. However he cannot get into all the nooks and crannies with his machine so strims as well. I am eternally grateful but it makes me feel utterly useless as the excercise was enjoyable and helped me to keep fit.

I tried a small sit on mower prior to my knee surgery but felt too wobly on it and managed to,struggle on with the Haytor. Those were the good old days!!

    Congratulations on your John Deere!🤗

Oh, I surely can relate to your post! One day back in 2011 I was cutting our 1/2 acre with our Toro self-powered push mower. My not-yet-replaced knees were SCREAMING!😥 I would make one or two passes and literally have to stop the mower and go sit down! I had taken my pain medication, but it seemed to do nothing for me on that day. I kept going because I needed to get the lawn mowed. A typical one-hour mow PRIOR TO painful knees had taken me SIX HOURS to complete. I was in tears most of that six hours.😥

As I cleaned off the grass from the mower before putting it in the shed, I made the decision that THAT would be my last tearful mowing experience! The next day our youngest son and I went to a dealer of Cub Cadet mowers. The Zero Turn Mower was featured. The rest, as they say, is history. I became a Cub Cadet owner of my first riding mower.

Seven years and TWO knee replacements later I STILL look forward to cutting the grass with our Cub Cadet!😁 It made a dreaded chore into a FUN EVENT!

When we took the mower in to have the blade sharpened after the first season of cutting, the technician asked me how I liked the mower. I told him IT'S THE MOST FUN YOU CAN HAVE CUTTING GRASS!!!

Best decision EVER for my not-yet-replaced knees, and STILL the best decision for FUN in cutting 1/2 acre of lawn!😁??

I am one of those idiots that I have to keep my yard looking good. When I cut the grass I always make sure I cut in nice straight lines and change direction each time I cut the grass. I had a Toro self propelled from start to finish maybe an hour but as my knee pain has gotten worse unless I want to experience misery for the rest of the day I only cut half. This caused me to get the Toro GT2200 I have someone that I take my lawn mower to that also sells some of what he gets. The Toro was great the biggest problem it has a 52" cut my yard is only 1/3 of an acre plus the Toro will not fit in my p/up so I have to have someone pick it up to work on it. Long story short Toro needed work found someone local ended up trading for the John Deere LA115. He repainted it went thru the motor put 4 new tires on it, its pretty much like a brand new tractor. It only has a 42" cut so now if it need work I can take it to be repaired when I am done cutting I can keep it in my shed, I love it and so does my knee!!!

Isn't it great when you find the perfect mower that makes the lawn look good AND one that is kind to the knees?!!!😁

I'm hoping that the sun keeps shining to dry our grass enough so I can get the lawn cut before it rains again! We are here in Ohio. Everything is green, oh so green due to all the rain we've had. I put in the vegetables, our Impatiens, and the geraniums last week between rainshowers and sunshine.

      Enjoy your mower!

I hope your knees will keep smiling!😁😁
