Hi
I am not doing good . I am not sure how much more I can take . I started on Zoloft on December on 25 mg . Dr worked me up to 150mg . I am on day 11 . I feel awful ! My entire body shakes . My ears are ringing . My thoughts are bad . I just can’t take this . My brain feels weird . My dr wants to work me up to 200 and The thought of increasing this scares me . I have not felt good through this entire process. I want off this drug ! I am having the same side effects being on it , as someone getting off it . I don’t know what to do . This is 4 months of hell . What do I do ????

Hi Debbie since increasing up to 100mg 11 days ago I have felt worse. Bad anxiety, nausea, sleep deprivation and back and for the toilet. I have spoken to my gp who tells me I will feel worse before better. Its a struggle and sometimes I want to give up. But as each increase is supposed to take time to work I'm not sure what to do. Do you have diazepam or anything to help x we can get through this x

I did however start to gain weight and experienced delayed ejaculation. On that basis I stopped the medication after three months. I halved the tablet for one week then cold turkey. Five days without and I feel OK. Strange mild electrical type buzz across hands and face on and off all day. Bearable.

I’ve bin on sertraline for several years, lowering them when I felt better, but I’ve recently had to increase them back to 100mg. I too have had terrible side effects, but I no that if I stick at it I will get better.
I no it’s just awful at the min but just keep going, talk to us on here it will help.
Keep in touch Claire x

I’m not a doctor but I feel like your body is reacting because your dose is to high? If I were you I’d call the doctor and insist that this may be too much for you. If they don’t think so, I’d seek another opinion. In the meantime time, when I felt like you do I would run a hot bath with a few drops of lavender essential oil and “attempt” to relax. Sometimes it helped, and sometimes it didn’t. On really rough days my doctor had given me a small dose of Xanax to just take the edge off until I was over the hump. Either way I can see that you’re really feeling bad. Drinking ALOT of water helps me too (ODDLY) I find that when I’m hydrated, I feel way less side effects. What are your thoughts?

I started 150mg Sertraline in Sept 2017. Way too high!
I was on other meds so I was not sure what was giving me side effects. By Jan 2018 I was off all meds apart from Sertraline.
I have now been tapering Sertraline. I am down to 40mg. The withdrawal is awful. Dizzy head, shaky, anxiety, head pressure, etc.
I am determined to get off this drug as I now have tinnitus. You should do the same. Do not go up to 200mg with your current side effects. The tapering down will be much worse. Keep in touch as I share your pain. Xx

It sounds like you have seritonin toxicity! I experienced this also and it was so bad I had to quit my masters degree. I just spoke to a pharmacist about it and she says I should have been hospitalized for the toxicity.
I swear, I don't know what doctors are thinking when their patients come back sick and shaking - even after months. I tried to tell my doctor but he just referred me to someone else who gave me even more SSRI!
Anyway, taper down as quickly as possible and see another doctor. Even if you need to go to the hospital, which it's sounds like you do. Go.
