something bothering me.

I keep hearing that after the op you have to  inject yourself for 21 days in the stomach with hepering. Is this true? I'm worried sick if I have to do that. Can you take pills instead? you can see from my post I would be no good as a drug taker unless it was pills lol. Can anyone talk me through it please?

This obviously varies from hospital to hospital. Where I am it is 35 days, self injections into the tummy. Easier than I thought, and when you think of it no more than a diabetic has to do several times a day every day . Much better than having a clot. Single use prepared syringes, I did not think I could do it but is not so bad.

see where your coming from Maggie but I can't bear to see my own brother in law inject himself and he has diabetis.  But like you say iif it saves a clot then it's a good thing to do. Maybe when I get my date and actually the time comes I will be in a better frame of mind.

It's what I had to tell myself to get myself into gear. As others have said, no sexy white stockings!

Hi gillcat,  in my hospital they only gave injections when you were on the ward.  I got sent home with 75mg dispersible aspirin, I had to take 2 daily for 6 weeks.  If you are worried speak to your consultant or even the Dr on the ward, I'm sure they'll sort you out with an alternative to injections. Good luck with your op  love  Maggie xx

I'm from the U.S. and I was given blood thinners in pill form. It was called Warfarin, there was also Xeralto. I would ask for pill form if available

I was to afraid to inject myself and I only had to take them for two weeks

I have been on warfarin before so I know thats ok. Sounds like that is another option

I was given injections in hospital but they sent me home with tablets to take twice a day for 35 days. I'm sure if you ask they will give you pills.

Hi I was given blood thinning tabs to take for 30 something days . Seems to depend on where in the world you are . If you are really worried I would ask for tabs whats the point in injections if tabs work .

    Good luck

Yes I am injecting myself but it is really easy, just squeezing a roll of tummy fat and putting in a prefiled syringe
