Something is really wrong.........

My blood test shows my blood sugar is off the charts which is why I've been getting chronic yeast infections. I went to the doctor in the beginning of March because of itch and redness that continued after I did an over the counter yeast treatment. My doctor said it looked like a bacterial infection and gave me medicine for it before test results came back. I went back again the next day and saw a different doctor in the office and he thought I had Chlamydia or gonnerea and developed PID because I was extremely sore and tender and I began bleeding and a large clump of brown creamish stuff came out of me. He gave me more medicine to take. My test results came in negative for bacteria, trich, yeast, Chlamydia, and gonnerea. I had a pelvic ultrasound and they found a large cyst on my ovary and no signs of PID what so ever. I stopped taking all medicines they gave me because I was negative for everything. I stopped bleeding shortly after and my vagina was still inflamed and itchy. Called the doctor again....she said sounds like a yeast infection after all the antibiotics I was taking and to get an over the counter. I did the one day treatment and after that, my vagina broke out in nasty sores. I was so paniced, they hurt so bad and I couldn't get relief from any cream, ointment, or ice! Had an emergency appointment with a third doctor in the office. I was so sick at that point....sores got nastier....she examined me and said it looks like herpes and put me on anti viral, nerve blocker, and numbing cream....it provided no relief for me.....still taking them and no change. The sores were yellow so I called the office again and the doctor said you probably have a secondary staph infection....put me on another cream and another antibiotic. Still no relief, still no healing, and now the sores are greenish and even more sensitive. Wtf is going on!?

I understand.but I wouldnt post any of my pictures.I hope things get better for you . But what u described I never heard of it myself ." Green sores" .

Go get the sores swabbed asap before they heal so it can be tested for herpes

I'm taking all the herpes medicine until im told otherwise. Lidocaine doesn't even numb them which doesn't make sense if it's herpes.

Hope you had the sores swabbed for herpes, staph and whatever else. Doesn't sound like herpes, however, although I'm not sure what it is. Hope it goes away soon. You can post photos via the desktop version, I believe.

Thank you. I have another doctors appointment in a couple days. Fingers crossed that it will improve by then.

UPDATE: I called the doctor and said I'm worried that the sores, whatever they are, are badly infected. She put me on Sulfameth/trimethoprim for staph infection and antibiotic ointment and I felt relief that day. I started taking it on the 1st, today is the 5th and the sores are nearly gone. I've still been taking the herpes medicine too and icing the sores like the doctor told me to. I had no response to the herpes medicine but major response from antibiotics! So I don't know what the sores really were! Blood tests can confirm that right? If so, I'm requesting it when I go in Thursday! But I feel 90% better right now.... smile

That's great news! You must be so relieved!! Sounds like staph, since the meds helped clear it up significantly. Staph can produce lesions that resemble herpes, but I doubt you have the latter. Yes, an antibody test for herpes (IgG, not IgM) at 3 months will confirm things, if you're still concerned. They swabbed you for herpes and staph, though, right? Results come back yet?

When I had the sores, she didn't swab. She just looked and let me cry then said "I believe it's herpes..." And put me on all the medicines. I believe they were yeast infection sores that got infected, but I'll have her do the blood test Thursday so I know for sure.

Thats amazing. I'm so so so happy for you . I'm sure you feel much better after the doctor have you the results. Don't for get to take the bloop work for herpes and a swab?

I wish you well and the best.

If herpes, which I doubt, a test done now for IgG antibodies would be negative, unless you already had the virus from before. New infection won't necessarily show up by IgG for 3 months. If your doctor advises IgM instead, don't bother. It is inaccurate, not type-specific and cannot determine recency of infection.

Don't know about staph, but presumably they don't test blood for standard staph skin infections, because if it were in your blood, you'd likely be seriously ill with more than just lesions!

Pity the doctor wasted the perfect opportunity to swab you. I'd consider a different doctor -- one that's less cocky and who is willing to back up their visual diagnosis with testing. Should anything like this happen again, but hopefully not, insist that you be swabbed.

What does igG mean? Can a doctor determine how long someone has herpes?what's the difference between a DNA for herpes and a IgG for herpes?
    • Posted

The herpes virus is not typically found in the blood in routine infections, so dna tests like pcr cannot be used on blood, only lesion swabs, where the virus is. Same goes for viral culture swabs. Blood tests can look for antibodies to the virus, however. IgG is a long term antibody, IgM is not and can appear after both new infection and recurrences, plus the IgM test is generally less accurate than IgG. The only way to know if you have a new infection is to test positive for the virus by swab, but still negative for IgG antibodies (body yet to have time to produce detectable amounts, which is usually by 3 months).

How do you know so much about this? Do you have herpes too? Which one is worst type 1 or type 2
    • Posted

I have Type 2, and Type 2 is definitely worse. Type 1 is not really an issue at all, unless you're one of the unlucky few who manages to still get multiple recurrences. I know what I know because I made it a point to understand exactly what I'm dealing with. Researched and read things widely for months back when I still had a lot of free time to do so!

Oh ok. I see. That's very smart of you. Im doing my own research as well . But it's hard to understand this virus. It's a horrible thing to have . I was diagnosed in 2014. I didn't have my first initial break out until this year 2016. It was very comfortable. I don't wish anyone to have this horrible deseas. I just wish people can be more honest just to say the truth about having it .

This last time my doctor checked me. She took blood to see for virus load. Does that make sense?

How did you feel when you first find out you was infected ?
    • Posted

I guess I'm a bit of a nerd, lol, so I understand most of the literature on herpes fairly well, except when it gets really complicated (like the intricacies of the immune system, which is actually very complex). Do you have Type 2 as well? How were you diagnosed without an outbreak? Just a routine sexual health check? There are no standard tests for herpes viral load, but the IgG antibody test does have an index value, which gives a rough indication of IgG antibody level that supposedly corresponds with viral load. However, viral load apparently has no bearing on severity or frequency of outbreaks, so say the leading herpes experts, although some studies would seem to indicate otherwise.

Oh ok. I see. Being a bit of a nerd . Is fine lol. There is nothing wrong with that . Yes I have type 2. But also type 1.with type 1 I was diagnosed 2006. I totally understand what your saying.

I dealt with someone for about 5 months. And i used protection with this person.

Before I met someone new. I stopped having sex with him . Because I wanted a serious relationship. But he didnt. He was, just giving me the run around. Then I met someone else. The new person and I seem to like each other a lot . I took my time with him. Just to see where his head is at. Nice guy and Has high potentials . Then we spoke about having a child. Because we both getting old . So, we tried. And we got pregnant. Yay.lol . Remember all this happen in 2014.

When I found out I was pregnant in August of 2014 ?

my doctor to take an std test by blood . 2 weeks later i went for my results. She stated I have herpes type 2. before that ,I took an std test on December 31,2013. And it come out negative for type 2. When I met my new boyfriend. Which is my child's dad? I found out about the type 2. I freaked out . I was devestated. It took me 2 months,to tell him I was diagnosed with herpes type 2. And when I told him. He was sad. But he understood. And said " dont worried. We are both im this . I still love you and you are a great person. Mistake happend in life. And my happy you were honest to say you had it" i cried , cried and cried. I told him to go get checked. And I apologize to him a billions of times . Because I know he was not the one who gave it to me. It was the guy I dealt with for about 5 months. I called him asked him for his results. All he showed me his stds results with out the herpes results .I kepted on asking for it. All he was doing was avoiding me. I cursed his ass out badly.

When my boyfriend went to the doctor for blood work .? A week later he got his, results then he told he was positive for herpes. I felt so so so bad. I cried my eyes out .and I was still pregnant around that time. FigurING on what to do.

But right now . Things are ok. I have to accept it . And I'm happy he didnt leave me . And he didn't leave the baby as well.

I don't know how when I was diagnosed in 2014 and didn't have an initial break out until 2016. I don't know how that works. Maybe everyoNE is different I guess.

I apologize for venting out like this on the other long note I sent you

Do you take your medication everyday ,or when you have a breakout? How did you feel when you found out you had it?
    • Posted

I am currently single and sexless, lol, so take no meds, not even for recurrences, as mine have been relatively mild for the most part. Just multivitamins, fish oils and topical tea tree oil.

That is quite the way to discover you had herpes, by the way! I can imagine your upset. If your current partner never tested before, though, it could *possibly* have come from him, you just never know with herpes. But either way, at least he remained, so you are lucky for that. smile

When I first suspected herpes, I was in denial and desperate to find another condition that mimicked my symptoms. Once confirmed, though I already suspected herpes, I was nevertheless stunned and devastated. I still sometimes think, why me? Sigh. Still despise my giver as well, but life goes on and things thankfully seem to get better with time. smile

P.S. Only 10-20% of people with herpes don't get an obvious/classic first outbreak following infection, so I guess you're one of the few!

I finally got into the old reply you sent this morning .

I did ask my current boyfriend if he ever got tested for herpes.I told him I got tested for herpes and I was negative for type 2. He said no at the time that he didn't get tested . And I told a story how my friend got herpes. And I told him to get tested.

So ,basically. You do all natural things. Does it matter taking meds for it?

I'm sorry you , for me and everyone else have to go thru it.

If it's a skin condition. Why do doctor and the cdc consider it as an std?

    • Posted

The meds help reduce outbreaks, shedding and thus sexual transmission. Only needed for Type 2 usually, if outbreaks are frequent/severe or the person is in a relationship with a negative partner.

Herpes is an STD because it is transmitted sexually, especially Type 2. I may not have the populist view here, I don't know, but I don't consider it to be just a skin condition. No other skin condition I can think of is both life-long and infectious, plus it is also a nerve condition that carries risks and complications.
