Something not right.

My problems started recently after taking a statin, Ive since, felt muscle tenderness and weakness aswell as dizziness, out of breath at times when speaking, very hot flushes and a raised heartrate while the flush occurs, I havent been able to exercise as jusst walkin seems to send my heart rate into overdrive, Im also getting chest pain particularly on my left side. Im also getting flushes in my toe. I can also feel water on my chest.

Problem is these things sort of come in spells, and are not always present.

I honestly believe its cardiomyopathy as my muscles are weak in themselves.

Ive been to a&e once before taking the statin panicking now from then on they think its all anxiety, my heart rate was 140 bpm, then 100, they took two ecgs when they told me they wouldnt take one and then got onto the phone with a consultant who said no further action needed, probably because they think its anxiety, anyway, I literally cant live like this, had blood tests came back fine, but showed my kidney working hard now its improving, but I literally feel dizzy and weak even lying down on the computer.

The other day i measured my pulse and there were lots of skipped beats that had me taking breaths in my throat like catching breath, when i mentioned this at a &e they said it was normal they refuse to do more tests.

Stop taking them and see. My husband, had a terrible reaction. He was so sick and had diahorrea, all night. He stopped 3 times and it cleared up. Told the doctor, who took him off them and said, he had only prescribed them, because the guidelings were that everyone over 70 should take them. She gave him a blood test, and said the results were that of a 21 year old.!!!!!!!!!!! So stop them and see.

I agree you may want to stop the statins and see how you do.  I have been on them for a long time, recent year or so side affects were popping up including the muscle pain you mentioned. I also have a spinal problem so aches and pains are normal for me and I tend to blame them on my spine. These were different and activity didn't seem to be the cause, nerves weren't irritated. So I titrated off the Crestor 80 with doctor approval of course and though things got better they didn't go away. So my cardiologidt put me back on lipitor and only 40 and is now better, but the events are acting up. We are sort of in a catch 22 sometimes. Darned if we do and if we don't. My LDL and HDL numbers are always bad, and deemed to be hereditarily so. Although my inactivity due to the spine issue does complicate everything.  Hope your problem is easily found and eliminated.

I started taking statins just yesterday as my cholestoral is a bit high and one of the things my doctor said was if I got pains in my legs or muscles to stop taking them straight away and contact him.  So maybe you should talk to your doctor?

I have discussed the muscle pain and that is why we went off the crestor and back to the lesser amount on lipitor again. It seems Crestor is difficult for my body to handle since it is stronger. Just went for more bloodwork today...so we will see.
