Something similar to a drop attack, and it’s affecting my life!

Hello, I haven’t found anything that satisfactorily describes or explains my issue on the internet, so I’m creating this discussion. When I don’t have enough sleep (often but not always after I have been drinking), I will wake up and have “muscle spasms” that cause me to do everything from drop whatever I’m carrying to fall repeatedly on the floor. The only thing that seems to help is time, maybe with the help of some coffee.  Sometimes it can take hours to stop having these “drop attacks”, while other times they only last for twenty or thirty minutes. During that period though, I have moments where I’m not in control of my body, and it results in me scraping up my knees and bruising myself. The difference between this and what I’ve read about drop attacks is that it happens repeatedly in these times, and I’m often not totally aware for the two or three seconds when it happens. I’m wondering if anyone has experienced anything similar, or has an idea of something that might help it. It makes it hard to get up early and work when I need to, and leads to many embarrassing moments that have become difficult to explain. Thanks in advance!
