Soon back to work

Well, today I had to go see occ health at work. I will be back at work on Wednesday next week.  Phased return, could be better, 5 hour days, normally do 6/7/4 hour shifts, 5 days a week. Friends at work said should of been 3 hour to start, as it's a physical job.Well I will see how it goes.

I tried kneeling down on my floor today, I've lost my hardcore knees, sad they never bothered me at work kneeling on shopfloor but they haven't been used for nearly 12 weeks and they hurt.  I was going to try and get in a sitting position on the floor. I got as far as kneeling, but just couple of mins. Maybe should try crawling, see if that toughens them up.

If they don't toughen, you could try kneepads. Best wishes for your return to work. Wish your phased return was going to be easier.

All the best Lynn , I started back at work 2 weeks ago . It's good to get back , I had OHA lady risk assessment me as I too work in retail , appearently I am not allowed to squat or crawl ! Lol x

I know I'm not allowed to squat or sit on my feet, which we do a lot lol Never thought of crawling being risky,we do that too.eek

But if I can get my butt on the floor safely at least it will be easier for the lower shelves.

Are you on shopfloor hil? Have you found that you can manage ok?

I am on the shopfloor but I am lucky in that I am able to sit down at a desk when I need to . I don't need to sit down for long so maybe they could find a chair for you to perch on for 5 mins or so. I started on 4 hour shifts and I am up to 5 hours now . It was tiring to start but you soon get back into the swing of things . Maybe for the first week or so you could bribe your co workers with chocolate to do the bottom shelves while you do the ones higher up : )just pace yourself and you will enjoy being back in the working world .

Take care and don't push yourself and take your stick for sympathy lol !

I think, once I'm back in it will be like I've never been away lol. Don't need to bribe my friends, they helped pull the pallets off, that I struggled with before the op.  We are a good team biggrin So I don't think I'll have problems with them.

Somebody has to do it, don't they hil. lol

I had a meeting today with my line manager and HR manager about returning to work next Monday (I will be 13 weeks).  I am an early morning cleaner at a local college (in the library) and we decided that I will work at my own pace (I usually have to rush), any heavy bin bags I can leave by the door and the second area that I clean will be covered by someone else, giving me more time to clean my bigger first area, for a week or so.  If I have any difficulties in my duties, then we will reassess the situation.  Luckily I only work 3 hours a day, and I am awake at 5 am any way.

Well, that's good that they are helping like that. They can't expect you to rush about, take it easy.

I will be 13 weeks too.

Oooh, harsh.  5 hours of physical work, that'll soon toughen you up.  You must tell them if it's too much for you though.

First day back is stocktake day, so just paperwork, then gap day the next night, so it will be Saturday before all the heavy stuff.

Get my musles back into action.biggrin

Lol poor you - sounds like it was a struggle - would one of those garden kneeling pads help at all ? Xxx

Actually I forgot about them, think I will get one, I used one before when I did my knee in. It can stay on my steps, so at least I won't have to carry it about.
