Sore after vitamin c vaginal insert for Bv

I've had Bv for the past month and refuse to go on antibiotics because I hate the never ending cycle of infections (i get them enough without them). Last night I cut a vitamin c capsule in half (it was 1000mg). I used an applicator and put some coconut oil on it and pushed it up as far as it would go. Then I put coconut oil on a tampon and inserted it. I slept with the tampon in over night. I woke up this morning and realized the weird discharge and smell were gone, but my vulva and vagina are red and sore. I didn't have any pain before inserting the vitamin c capsule. Also, I suffer from recurrent yeast infections. Has anyone had this happen to them? I am relieved that the smell and discharge are gone but I don't want to be in pain either. Any tips or advice? I plan on inserting the rephresh 5billion probiotic before bed tonight to see if that helps.

You are right to refuse antibiotics because they often only make a bad situation worse. As regards your Vitamin C and coconut oil maybe you should see if things settle down first before moving on to the probiotic. Don't rush it.

I actually ended up doing that. I didn't insert a probiotic last night. But I woke up with more pain/irritation and a thick discharge. The redness went away, but the smell is starting to come back. I have a doctors appointment in the morning so hopefully they can shed some light on everything.

Boric acid worked for me.  Here are somethings to remember. BV is caused by a ph imbalance.  The normal pH of the vagina is 4.5 or less Any thing higher can cause a problem.  Boric acid is an extremely effective natural cure for BV, or bacterial vaginosis and even yeast infection, when used properly.

A number of factors can offset the balance of the healthy pH of the vagina including menstrual flow, semen, and soap. I have researched a number of methods for treating bacterial vaginosis and discovered that boric acid is one of the most effective methods of treatment.

While you may be most familiar with boric acid as a form of poison, boric acid, in essence, is considered an effective antiseptic. As such, it is often used in treating a number of different infectious conditions including bacterial vaginosis.

Boric acid is used as an insert. The treatment typically comes in a capsule form and is inserted into the vagina directly. You can make the capsules yourself by putting boric acid powder inside of empty gel capsules. Check out amazon.

While the CDC does not specify a specific treatment order for boric acid, a suggested treatment option is 1 capsule inserted once or twice a week usually at bedtime. You will need a pantyliner.  You will notice a HUGE difference the next day. You should never consume boric acid, but it is a safe treatment to use externally in the vagina.

While some may view boric acid as a particularly concentrated treatment, the good news is that boric acid is typically a permanent treatment for bacterial vaginosis. If you have any question feel free to ask.

I actually have boric acid and have used it and believe in it 110%....but I can't use it right now because I'm going through treatment for pre cancerous cells on my cervix. I was told the boric acid might interact with the TCA treatment.

WOW ok only other thing that I can say helped was peroxide and water rinse and tea tree oil.  But may be you should wait till your treatment is done before inserting anything

My friend told me about the peroxide and water but I'll have to check with my doctor. They gave me the ok to use probiotics vaginally, but I have to wait until 2 days after treatment. It didn't help the first time though after a week of use. I have my last treatment tomorrow morning. So by Friday or Saturday I should be able to insert a treatment vaginally again. Except boric acid. May have to wait another month or so.

Hydrogen peroxide and water douches does not work. it does not get rid of the problem permanently, only for a couple of days and then when the smell and everything comes back it's going to be even worse!

while it doenst cure it does help and like I said you should just use as a rinse since you have other stuff going on.

Your undergoing treatment for pre-cancerous cells is obfuscating things somewhat. What about Flagil as a vag supositary?

I can't try anything vaginally again until later on this week. My next, and hopefully last, treatment is tomorrow morning. I'm going to discuss all of this with my doctor tomorrow but I will ask about it!

So I found out that I do have a yeast infection. Not sure what went wrong with th vitamin c pill, considering it didn't have any additives, coloring, flavoring, etc. I definitely won't try that again. I may give it a week and try the boric acid. My doctor says she doesn't know how it will react with the treatment but she said I could use other prescriptions meds starting tonight (my treatment was earlier today) so I don't think it will be too bad.

hope all is well.  I dont even use prescription meds because when I did it was just a vicious cycle for me.  Just about any and everything causes my ph to be thrown off including "prescribed" meds for down there.

I am very hesitant to take them. I'm going to get more probiotics and possibly try the diluted ACV on a tampon thing to adjust my PH.
