Sore after vitamin c vaginal insert for Bv

I've had Bv for the past month and refuse to go on antibiotics because I hate the never ending cycle of infections (i get them enough without them). Last night I cut a vitamin c capsule in half (it was 1000mg). I used an applicator and put some coconut oil on it and pushed it up as far as it would go. Then I put coconut oil on a tampon and inserted it. I slept with the tampon in over night. I woke up this morning and realized the weird discharge and smell were gone, but my vulva and vagina are red and sore. I didn't have any pain before inserting the vitamin c capsule. Also, I suffer from recurrent yeast infections. Has anyone had this happen to them? I am relieved that the smell and discharge are gone but I don't want to be in pain either. Any tips or advice? I plan on inserting the rephresh 5billion probiotic before bed tonight to see if that helps.

A number of factors can offset the balance of the healthy pH of the vagina including menstrual flow, semen, and soap. I have researched a number of methods for treating bacterial vaginosis and discovered that boric acid is one of the most effective methods of treatment.
While you may be most familiar with boric acid as a form of poison, boric acid, in essence, is considered an effective antiseptic. As such, it is often used in treating a number of different infectious conditions including bacterial vaginosis.
Boric acid is used as an insert. The treatment typically comes in a capsule form and is inserted into the vagina directly. You can make the capsules yourself by putting boric acid powder inside of empty gel capsules. Check out amazon.
While the CDC does not specify a specific treatment order for boric acid, a suggested treatment option is 1 capsule inserted once or twice a week usually at bedtime. You will need a pantyliner. You will notice a HUGE difference the next day. You should never consume boric acid, but it is a safe treatment to use externally in the vagina.
While some may view boric acid as a particularly concentrated treatment, the good news is that boric acid is typically a permanent treatment for bacterial vaginosis. If you have any question feel free to ask.
