Lynne, I am wondering how much activity you do. Are you working, exercising, has anything changed lately, i.e., more activity?

I had my first THR in July 2015, about the time of your second, and can't bear full weight on surgical leg yet, so I've been trying to find out as much as I can about post surgery problems.

      Hi AnnieK,

I'm ashamed to admit i don't do much exercise, I get up do the general house jobs, go to the store about twice a week and that's about it, I seem to have very little energy, it's like my life is totally different since i had the opps. I have no excruciating pain anymore but I feel very old now and vunerable, and this is definitly not me, I'm a young looking ^4 year old, who up untill the first opp. was working in a pub singing and helping out in general even with the pain in my hips, so now I'm so conscious of the implants I'm scared to do much in case of dislocation.

      Hi Lynne

come on Girl I know you had pain and that is why you had your hips done really. But don't you want your life back?  Maybe you should go have a word with your doc. Tell him/ her how you feel. Maybe they can help you get your mojo back. There is only a very small chance of dislocation. Yes it is scary that it might happen. But you will never know if you don't try to live your life Lynne. At the moment it sounds like you don't have a life. Go out for an evening to the pub you used to sing at. Go meet old friends. You can't live life like this. It isn't human or a life. X

Hi hailea, I know you are right, I have been out to my pub and was treated like a queen, it's just that I don't have anyone as a partner and I guess I think nobody would want me now, anyway thank's for the kick up the butt, I so needed it lol x

Lynne, my dear, please don't be ashamed! I could have written your reply! Yes, I had some OA pain and weakness before my THR last July, but I have had complications, and my right thigh/hip/buttock area is sore, heavy and has various spiky hurts and gives way unexpectedly. I have vacuumed twice since July, and not very well either time. Finally went to a museum last Sunday and did ok, but now I have a cold. I just have no energy and feel generally pretty bad. I, too, feel very old and vulnerable.

I am having lots of appointments these days with doctors trying to figure out what is wrong with me, so I can get proper treatment. I want to be able to walk properly.

It sounds a bit worrying to me that both of your hips feel sore and heavy after walking or sitting for awhile. Can you check with your doctor about it?  Perhaps something is out of whack. And maybe there are some things you can do for yourself, some self-care, to help cheer yourself up. Perhaps spending more time with friends, as Hailea has suggested?

I've only had the one THR, and I can't imagine having had two!

it isn't good to feel this way. I am very daunted at the prospect of being able to take my dogs for a walk go shopping again and other daily life things on my own without an escort. My other 1/2 has been there for me but he doesn't really understand. He does try his best and if you think about it the way your thinking  if you don't sochilise you may never find that some one. As they say life is a bitch then you die. But you got to have a life yet. You still got a life. Your still young. Go for it if you must  get yourself a dog to force you to go out walking. There will always be someone pleased to see you come home when you come back from where ever you have been. cheesygrin

    Hi Lynne,

Same here, darling .... Thank you for posting .. I was a bit apprehensive to do so - I feel grateful and blessed that I had no complications or any bad experience like some of us here ...

I had 1st R THR in March 2015 and 2nd L THR in September - I was delighted and full confidence - felt stable, so to speak - A couple of weeks ago my old new , right hip started to ache, feel sore on the side of the hip - and it didn't go away -

I told my PT but he kind of shrucked it off - I do my exercises (could do more), walk (could do more) and recently rented a stationary bike - 3 x 15 minues now -

The actions it self are pain-free - but oh boy, after sitting or getting out of bed !!!!

    like you say< not="" pain,="" but="" stiff="" and="" sore="" and="" heavy="">   and so tired too -

And ..... way too much weight ... ....arghhhh ....

    Keep going, I guess ????

    Big warm hug

    renee

anyway, just keep going Lynne - I don;t know what else to do ...

      Hi Renee,

so good to here from you cheesygrin like you say i didn't know whether or not to post, but hey... i'm glad I did, it's great (if that's the right word) to hear from someone who has the same sort of symtoms, like you say maybe we don't exercise enough, or maybe it's just the implants settling in, who knowsquestion anyway lets hope it sorts itself out soon, let me know how you get on with the bike, I have one, but I'm ashamed to say I never use it,

      so good luck ,

      thanks again,

      love, Lynne xx

I guess we are coming to this part of our journey and had hoped or expected to be all done ... but in reality, 1st hip didn't have the time to heal fully because of other bad hip ... then 2nd hip was done - another assault on our body - healing starts all over again, right?

It is said that it might take 12-18 months to fully recover ...

This is what I am telling myselfredface -

The bike I rented for one month and have no intention to have it for longer - I am doing okay with it (I hate bicycling - stationary or regular) -

It is just that I know I am not moving enough - I go out for walks ever so often and weather permitted - Not discplined enought ot go more than once a day (if that) - I live sort of isolated in the woods (gorgeous snow we had last week) so no one really comes by to encourage me to go for a long walk ...

so, now I watch some tv and cycle , 15 minutes, 2-3 times a day -

afterwards legs, hips feel heavy ...

It is going to be all right Lynne -

      Big warm hug

      renee

PS  This feeling old and unworthy I have too Lynne - This might not be the right forum even though it has something to do with hips cry
