Sore tender breasts while on HRT

Hi all. I’m pre-menapausable &48.

Been on hrt for just under 2years... & just recently been experiencing really sore tender breasts. They swell in size to the point of being uncomfortable. Doctor has had me to the breast clinic & had a Mammagram ... which was signed as Hormonal!

I have a coil fitted and hrt patch!

Has anybody experienced this & if so did you come off one ie coil or hrt?

So I’m desperate for help or advice off ladies that have gone through this!

Hi michelle sore breasts tends to be high estrogen, i do not know what hrt you are on but the marina coil will give you some progesterone. There are many different HRT so maybe you need to discuss with your GP re switching. x

Did this happen to you before you hit the menopause usually just before your period would have been due? If so it's down to the 'normalising' of your hormone levels due to the hrt. DONT STOP any of your hrt until your Dr has run full hormone level blood test and they tell you to stop and which one needs stopping - otherwise you risk 'im balancing your hormone levels which could be more unpleasant! Try high strength evening primrose oil for the breast tenderness it does help but like all these things they do take time. Hope this is of help to you and that you get sorted out and feel better soon! XXX

    Hi Michelle..

I experience the same... I feel and my boobs are bigger but my hubby tells me that they are not... 😉. They can feel dense tobit the soreness comes and goes so know it's hormonal.. CK

I’ve had this for months and it coincided (but was not caused by) an enormous breast cyst. The Dr who confirmed that it was a cyst and nothing more sinister, told me to take oil of evening primrose which had been clinically proven to help regulate (not the word she used; she used a clinic term which I’ve forgotten) hormones. It can take a couple of months to kick in, and you need to take a fair few capsules each day, but apart from the cyst aching a coupling of times, I have had absolutely no breast pain for the past few weeks. I would definitely recommend it.

Maybe you just need to lower your estrogen dose, it’s a normal symptoms, try not to worry! smile
