Sore throat and swollen glands for 6 weeks

Hi there, I've been experiencing sore and dry throat, swollen lymph nodes on the left side of my neck, and yellow phlegm for nearly 6 weeks. This couple of days I start to realize my left jaw is a bit swollen too and i get occasionally mild headache (only on the left). Went to three GPs in the past six weeks, did a throat swab, confirmed that it is not a baterial infection, they all think it's a viral infection and that I don't need any further treatment. It's starting to worry me. Should I go see a specialist?

These are due to serious infections, viral in this case.

Therefore you should have been prescribed an anti-viral.

A specialist is definitely required to took at this.

Thank you so much for your response! I'll go to the doctor again tomorrow. I'm just scared it could be hyperthyroidism / tumor / throat cancer / salivary glands dysfunction. Do you think it could possibly be any of these?

I would go to your GP again (whichever one you liked the most), and emphasize the length of time you've been suffering and demand to be treated or be seen by a specialist. I agree with the other response, you may need antivirals. I hope you feel better soon!
