Sore Throat / Blocked Ear and Oropharynx Lump

I've been getting lots of recurrent sore throats and occasional what have felt like ear infections or blocked ears.

I've never really looked in the mirror before but did so the other day and noticed a visible lump in the Oropharynx area.

I've had my tonsils out when I was a youngster but this looks like a defined growth of some sort - I know the answer will be get it checked out but are there any benign infections that would cause something like this? When others have posted similar pictures they've tended to be much smaller lumps.
