Sore Throat for 3 months?

Posted , 6 users are following.

Hi all,

I found this forum as I was googling about my sore throat (I hope I live long enough to post this, as it says I am dead already, haha)

I saw an ENT PA last week and he said the cause of my sore throat for the last 3 months is silent reflux and started me on Omeprazole twice a day, 40mg.

It's a week tomorrow and there is no change.. does anyone have any experience with this?

My throat hurts, my ears feel 'full' and uncomfortable and this sucks.. could it really be just silent reflux? Blood work is fine, and he did stick the little camera up my nose and down my throat..

I was drinking water with lemon all day, every day for the last few years and I have stopped since last Wednesday, to see if that would help, but nope. 😦

Anyone have any input?

Thanks in advance.

I forgot to add it always feels like food is getting stuck in my throat, or I am choking.. blah.

It takes much longer than 1 week to experience results....more like 2 to 4 months! lpr healing can be excruciatingly slow.

Citrus is a or can be a trigger for acid reflux. It depends on the person. You may want to forgo the lemon for awhile. Hope you get relief soon!

    Try avoid any acidic product.

You need to have have ultrasound scan and endoscopy done for first stage to check your kidney, liver, pancreas etc. You need GI specialist to look at.

Hi! hopefully I'm not out of line by resurrecting a zombie thread lol. Did you ever find relief? I'm going through a similar diagnosis.

My family went through a string of strep throat infections for a month. Naturally, I thought that's what I have (and I do test positive but apparently I'm a carrier according to ENT because I dont present with any other symptoms and I've been on 4 rounds of antibiotics)and after 4 rounds of antibiotics my sore throat is still persistent.

Just had an appointment with an ENT and he said I have acid reflux which is the cause for my chronic sore throat. Prescribed the same dosage you're on of the same medication. I'm on day 3. No body aches, don't feel bad, (besides my mood that is). Just some occasional heart burn, burping throughout the day and my freaking sore throat lol.

Thanks for the reply in advance
