Sore throat for almost a month

Hi! my tonsils have been inflamed for almost a month now and tests have shown strep! I have been put on amoxicillin and climate for 10 days. I have pain on my my left tonsil that radiates to my left ear. as a health anxious person, all I think about is the worst. I'm thinking maybe the doctor missed something... has anyone been in a similar situation? if yes, kindly tell me what worked for you and how long did the infection last. thanks in advance.
