Sore throat, white patches for 3 months

So late Jan I had pain in my throat pretty bad, it was 3 days after being with a girl but I really don't think it's std related but who knows. Anyways I had a bad sore throat, white patches in the back. I went to doctor, and it was negative for strep. I also had swollen lymph nodes in neck. Now ever since then I jeep getting reaccuring white patches sore throat and my lymph nodes are always swollen. Weather I have the patches or not they are always swollen like when I raise my head up and look in the mirror I can physically see them swollen.. They are tender but not painful. I have an appointment on the 26th of April with ear nose and throat specials. Last few days I got my second cold sore. First primary infection was 4 years ago and haven't had once since until now. I have jaw pain feel fatigued. And the white patches and sore throat also came back. Lymph nodes still swollen. Ughhhhh it just never goes away. I have been stressed and have had alot of anxiety in the last couple months since this started. Broke up from long relationship, moved out, my hours at work completely changed and my mom also lost her job. Please help on what I can do? Should I go to the E. R? or just wait for the appointment?

Is it like a coating of very small random white spots? Or more the tonsil stone variety?

If they are stones, then that can be strep and/or virus related. But if you have the small random patches that almost look scaly, in my experience that is thrush.

I've had both, and am currently suffering with swollen tonsils too. Hope to have been of help, and best of luck to you!
