SORE TIGHT LEG AFTER HIP REPLACEMENT

Posted , 4 users are following.

I had a THR on my right hip 11 weeks ago.

The first few weeks were tough but totally pain free, which is amazing.

My right leg and ankle started to swell but I was told at my 2 week assessment that it is to be expected.

9 weeks later, although not as swollen, my lower leg is very pink and blotchy and the skin is extremely tight, sore and tender to the touch. My husband moisturises it for me every other night, as I can't reach down to it. Also as I do my ankle rotations I sense what I can only describe as an 'electric shock' shoot down the nerves at the inside of my foot. It's like what happened sometimes down the nerves when I had acupuncture for back pain. It isn't painful but quite uncomfortable. It definitely isn't right.

Had anyone else experienced this?

If so, does it fade with time?

Do I need to ask my GP about it?

Thank you.

    Kate,

You are going to experience a lot of different feelings, I had strange things around the scar for over a year. Your GP cannot do anything to be honest, I think it will eventually stop.
