Hey folks! Ive been suffering with ibs as years but this time I have a very uncomfortable soreness on my right side just beside my hip bone /pelvic area. It feels like there's something there and can be sore with movement.

It also gets doer after straining for a bowel movement. Can anyone advise what this possible is xx

My gastro told me IBS tends to be on the left side as food is still liquid when it is on the right side. My right hand sided pain turned out to be an ovarian cyst and not IBS at all

Thanks Louise. I've had ultrasounds to see if this is a cyst but nothing showed.

I am now waiting to see if it us endometriosis  going on 4th March for first consultation after 1 year wait xx

It's awful isn't it and causes me worry and I have developed aniexty. Think the waiting time certainly doesn't help either. Ten years I have had bowel problems and gradulally getting worse. Good luck and you get sorted xxx

Yes it is. All of last year I was in a terrible state with the anxiety, I didn't know what was wrong and the docs kept telling me it was IBS and I just knew it wasn't. I only found out about the cyst after paying privately for a CT scan. I've had to fight with the GP's to do anything for me. Once I knew what it was things improved a bit I'm not stressing over it all so much. Let us know how you get on xx

Will do , I actually can't wait to get. Things are so bad my end I am on a waiting list for CBT to try and help me. My thoughts round wild but the aniexty is always at an all time high during my time of month, this is when my ibs flares up too. Vicious circle xxx

Hi Clare and Daphk, just so you are aware the normal ultrasound is not very good for identifying cysts. The ovaries can be hidden from view. My cyst was missed by ultrasound but showed up by CT scan. Apparently trans vaginal (internal) ultrasounds are the best way to see the ovaries.

Hi louise, yes I have had a vaginal ultrasound showed clear. I have asked lots for a cr scan but been refused by my gp. But annoying but hopefully the hospital will get me sorted next month.

Hi Claire, lovely to hear from you. Awful isn't it. Mine comes and goes it just is at my right side just beside my hip bone. It seems to flare up when my boewl troubles start. I will go to the bathroom excessively for one day and then maybe don't go again for three/four days but always feel

Like I need to and am bloated. During this I pass mucus. I do get pains across my lower stomach Also but then this settles on my right side. I feel it more when or during a bowel movement it relieves it a bit but is still there if you know what I mean. I haven't a clue what ur us but worry me xx

      Hi Daphk

Believe me you are not alone I am exactly the same the pain never moves from my right hand side, like yourself I have had all the tests done and everything has come back clear.

I do find that my anxiety affects it alot and try my best to control it not giving into the pain is the biggest battle I find

The only think I can think of is that you could be sore, because your not eatting enough food.

    Hi,

I have same symptoms. I had ultrasound and nothing showed. I was meant to have transvaginal but she decided not to in the end because I'm only 22, however I wish now that I had for peace of mind. I am however waiting for mri now, do you think that will show up if there is cyst? I'm so worried.

    Dear Daphk,

I have experienced this several times, especially after using zantac and with opramazerole (or however it is spelt). I actually had a menstrual cycle and a bleed even though I am post menopausal. So in my case it seems to be something to do with a side effect of the acid blocker. In any event on all these occasions it has gone away and the one time I had an internal scan (because my GP refused to believe that the acid blocker had had this weird hormonal effect) there was nothing sinister going on.

    Hope that helps.

But if you are taking acid blockers i recommend stopping if you can. they have all sorts of unblancing effects and inhibit absorptions of nutrients esp B vits and magnesium.
