Sores On Scalp, I'm Convinced Is Shingles, Zovirax Helps Immediately

Has anyone else here had a problem with terrible terrible sores on the scalp that will never ever stop scratching and burning and itching even though they almost go away there's always something there and then they flare back up definitely seems cyclical and the worst they get the pain starts to reverberate throughout the body so that you can tell that it's nerve pain or nueralgic.

I don't have problems articulating myself or asking questions so I don't understand why my doctor's seem like they are defiant against shingles other than that I am relatively young and look healthy even though I have many diseases such as gout since I was 25 and I am 49 today.

Forever 15 years right on the crown of my head in about a circular pattern and I say circular very roughly but you could easily make a 5 inch circle and cover this area on the crown of my head which is the only place I ever have this outbreak of these what are first blistering and Vin burning terrible lesions that hurt deep deep deep and when these are worse my body aches everywhere terrible especially in my legs on the quadriceps. More recently I have been completely exhausted and my doctor says it's impossible that it's shingles that it only affects one side of the body and this and that however my mother had one of the worst cases in recorded history like mine it lasted over 15 years and she was immunocompromised and I think that's the key here that's being missed is that I am a communal compromised too but being younger and looking decent that is just overlooked.

    Dear Rokkinroll,

Of course, it is shingles! Physicians can be abysmally ignorant regarding Herpes Zoster Shingles.

I recommend that you insist on an immediate referral to an excellent neurologist who specializes in this type of diagnosis and treatment. Often, but not always, those connected with a university can be more knowledgeable, but sometimes more arrogant. Do your research.

My heart goes out to you.

I have recurrent episodes of Herpes Zoster Shingles in my right ear every three to five weeks for the past twenty-one years and twice in my right eye. I am also immuncompromised. I am 65 years old.

I start Famciclovir immediately at the first inkling of symptoms of Zoster.

Also, I follow high Lysine low Arginine diet as that really helps to to suppress the Herpes Zoster Shingles. Google Herpes and follow high Lysine low Arginine diet.

I am a Nurse Practitioner in the States.

Physicians often misdiagnose shingles, are unaware that shingles crosses the midline, that it frequently reoccurs, that it can occur in multiple dermatomes, and mismanage treatment. They fail to give antivirals and adequate analgesics. By doing so, they set up the poor patients for recurrent episodes of Herpes Zoster Shingles and Post Herpetic Neuralgia PHN.

Please, if your physician doesn't believe you regarding the Herpes Zoster Shingles, isn't it time to consider changing physicians? I know it depends where you live and many other factors.

Please let me know how you make out.

    Best Wishes

    Merry Juliana

The other reason I know it is shingles is the body aches and exhaustion, which go along with episodes of Herpes Zoster Shingles. The burning pain is searing into your head is like no other.

When you have an episode, you can have a headache, swollen lymph nodes adjacent to the rash, fever, chills and sweating, aches and pains, malaise and fatigue, exhaustion. This is just a partial list.

    Best Wishes

Rokkinroll...so sorry to read you are suffering with Shingles. I had my first of 4 bouts 4 years ago, and I have never been free of the scalp itch. I simply had a few tiny pimple-like blisters which cleared up on one side, but later came back on the other. I never did find a DR to take any of this seriously once I no longer had the "belly belt" of lesions and accept that Shingles set their own rules - seldom by the book. I was under-medicated and over-medicated. Unbelievable! Since then I have done my own research. This site is especially helpful, and some of the bloggers really know their stuff. Currently I have little itchy bumps on my scalp, and I am wondering if, after all this time, it could be an autoimmune disease Lichen Planus rather than continuing Shingles. I have Sjogrens and Reynauds, so the likelihood of this is a possibility. A steroid lotion from the Derm doc and organic hair products have been my course of treatment. Good luck finding relief!
