has anyone experienced sores without ANY other symptoms?

i noticed a small red dot on my penis head, which over several days turning into an open lesion.  the sore is tender and somewhat painful but there is no itch, burning, tingling etc.  i have not had any fever or muscleaches.  and there was no blister or pain/tingling before it appeared or when i first noticed it.

has anyone experienced anything similar to this?

Hi. Well start from the beginning: Do you have any reason to believe you've been exposed? I've had HSV-2 for 10 years.

It is possible to have a herpes sore without other symptoms, but that doesn't necessarily mean that it's herpes, nor does it rule it out, I'm afraid. Herpes is a tricky virus. If unsure and you have reason to be concerned, best thing is to get it swabbed asap, preferably by pcr.

P.S. I should add that I also didn't have tingling, burning, fever or muscle aches, and only mild itching towards the end. I did have burning urination, which was my main symptom, but that only means I had lesions inside my urethra. If you don't develop lesions inside there, you wouldn't get that symptom either. However, there have been others on here who had what looked or sounded very much like herpes, but which turned out to be something else (e.g., staph infection)!

    thank you for the responses.

i have had unprotected sex in alignment with the sore appearing.

The doctor swabbed it but has been extremely lax in getting back to me and I can't get a reply from messages.

Another similar sore followed and while neither is particularly painful, they are tender if touched.  It hurt a lot when she took the swab.

Like I said, no other symptoms, but perhaps a tender lymph node in the groin.

Also, it tends to bother me more when I am sitting down.  Does that ring any bells for anyone?

Hi. As with any kind of sore or irritation in that area sitting will cause friction and irritate. I'd wear a nightgown or long t-shirt to bed with no undies till it clears up. Keep your head up...Either way the test comes out...It's no big deal! I hope the best for you.

Hmmm, well, my lesions were only sore to the touch as well, and I had a swollen lymph node. Does kind of sound like it could be herpes, based on the presence of sores and the swollen node. Best to chase your doctor for the results. Was it a viral culture swab?

Lab work came back negative.  The doctor didn't seem to know what type of test it was unfortunately.

they are referring me to another doctor.

in truth, after researching possible other causes, i hope its herpes.  seems the be the least of all the evils.

thanks again for the advice, guys

Ask for a copy of your results and you can probably work it out. Your doctor sounds rather hopeless. Anyway, viral culture swabs are prone to false negatives, whereas pcr swabs are not, hence why I asked. Alternatively, you can always do the IgG blood test at 3 months.
