Sorry....another question!

Has anyone else experienced being very "jumpy" or startling quickly? I've never been like this before, but lately I seem to jump at the slightest noise or unexpected movement! Recently my dog brushed his tail against my legs and I thought I'd fall out of bed! As I said, these reactions aren't typical of me and I'm wondering if I've just stumbled across yet one more effect of prednisone (or pmr, I don't know anymoresad Maybe it's just me...maybe I'm losing it! HELP!!

It is a common side effect of pred.

      Hi Eileen

After what must have been a flare up, aching jaws, massive headache and blood pressure touching 190 over 80! Doctor put me back to 30mg from 7.

I’ve had blood tests and am seeing my Rheumatologist on Tuesday.

Hopefully he will allow me to go back to 7 or maybe 10.

The aching jaws have gone and the headache is more like a dull ache! Blood pressure still on the high side but come down slightly!

I’m almost sure this is the GCA but I still have pains in my hands and arms! Is this normal?

Depends what the hand and arm are from. If it is bursitis/tendonitis it may take a few days or even weeks for that inflammation to fade. It may not even be PMR.

At least you are seeing the rheumy on Tuesday - that sounds like a good going flare of the GCA and I fear you may have to stay higher a bit longer. I hope not - but better safe than sorry.

      Thanks Eileen

It’s so good to have someone to talk to away from doctors and close family, who I don’t want to worry!

Yes I am the same. Even in supermarket I jump if another person comes beside me...and they apologies !

I have got to the stage that if I have a sore big toe...it's the steroids. Can't wait till I am able to get of them, but it's early days for me I suppose...60mg 2 months ago now 20mg.

Thank you Val. It's always comforting and reassuring to hear of others experiences re this disease/prednisone. I've never experienced so many different side effects, (Ever!) as I've had over the past 3+mo! Absolutely NUTZ!

As I've mentioned before I think I got off relatively lightly re side effects. Not that that stopped me complaining about those I did have!

One of the very few pluses, though, was what I would describe as enhanced reactions. On many occasions I found myself delighted to have recovered from a trip, ( no, not THAT sort of trip ), adjusting to stop myself dropping things..... not life changing exactly, but noticeable and not just by me. Others remarked on it, too.

Complicated construction the human body ( and mind ) with unpredictable consequences when we tweak it with medicines. I was going to say drugs but that has the wrong connotations.

Lol...I have to "check" myself too when referring to medicine as drugs! But I'm glad to hear of your "enhanced reactions" explanation. Maybe that's part of what's happening to me, ie crying at the drop of a pin, being a bit snappy, etc. These seem to be very trying times for me for some reason and it's nice to hear other's experiences.

      Hi lynda62707

Oh yes! my reaction to various noises anything sad or frightening were extremely accute and sensitive whereas prior to pred i took everything in my stride. I would even react sensitively to an innocent remark and i would be a bit paranoid and anxious...that was not me at all .....not at all!! So i came to realise quite early on while taking pred that they were responsible....your not alone lynda as i said before just roll with it and any other side effect that comes along.....kind thoughts...👍😊

Hi mary, I'm Always happy to hear from you! Yes, I'm not ME either these days! I've always been the 'laid back one' the steady as a rock one.....YIKES! What the hec is goin'?? Not particularly likin' this person much. Hopefully it's very temporary. Fortunately, I still have my sense of humor....if that goes, I think I'll jump off a cliff!😁
