sorry poo question again!

for 3 months (prior to sertraline) my bowel habit had gone from random time and days to every morning and much softer (sorry). i have a colonoscopy booked for next week and so scared they will find something i am 43. also last few days i have noticed that food i ate just the night before is undigested .'i am hoping that this is caused by anxiety but my rational head is saying not, must be some kind of cancer . i don't suppose anyone else has noticed this? sorry to ask such a grim question

    Hi Natalie,

Given your age, it's unlikely to be anything serious. Probably an anxiety symptom or your body still adjusting to sertraline. Try not to worry, you'll be ok.

thanks adam ,but it can still happen in people my age, i know not too often, trying not to panic and not doing too great at it!

I had to stop taking sertraline as it really upset my stomach. I was having diahrroea about 7 times a day and any time I ate. Came off sertraline and the symptoms stopped after a few days. It might be the sertraline upsetting your tummy.

hello adam. well had my consultant appt which was ok and said was on for tomorrow but then the secretary called to say they were so sorry but both consultants double booked and procedure would need to be friday afternoon at 3pm so i am having a mini breakdown at the moment after working myself up for tomorrow sad i know it's only 24 hours but just was hoping to get it out of the way , thank u for asking.

That's rather frustrating. My advice would be to spend the next 24 hours distracting yourself with things you like doing.

they were really apologetic as they know how anxious i am. have u had one adam? i am also worried about the sedation as i had a pre med once and it made me feel panicky

I have had one but I had a general so knew nothing about it til I woke up. For me, my anxiety comes from not being in control - I am getting better at just accepting it is a part of me but it is very hard to keep in check sometimes. However, I know it is a product of ruminating and thinking the worst all the time so think positively and distract your brain from worry.

hello ! i am just on way back from hospital, discharged me 20 mins ago: Was scared stiff, had sedation and it was fine, not painful and i was awake and watched it all on the screen. saw him remove a polyp

which he said was benign and will get sent off anyway and took the random biopsies he said as a matter of course and that was it! all ok and he said bowel change would be down to possible irritable bowel.

I am very pleased to see that all went well for you today. You must be overjoyed after all the anxiety you have been having over this. Good luck.
