I feel your pain!! The symptoms are hard to describe and not easily communicated. I’m been suffering from these exact symptoms for about 6 months. I turned to forums since the doctors were not able to diagnose me. I’ve had a head MRI and every blood test imaginable, all with the same result.... you are perfectly healthy. I’ve also been told I’m depressed, which I am 1000% sure I am not!!

Long story short I went to a chiropractor and 2 adjustments later I was brain fog and headache free for the first time in months!! I spoke to my chiropractor about my symptoms and asked if I could have a pinched nerve in my neck. Turns out that was my self-diagnosed problem.

He has been working on my C1 area and it has been working wonders. I know I am not out of the water yet, but hoping with a few more weeks of concentrated adjustments I will be back to normal.

I wanted to share and hope you can find relief soon!!

      Hey Jody!

I have had discomfort and some pain in my neck pretty much all year. The brain  fog, head tingling, pressure in my head, and headaches came suddenly in the middle of the day late in July. They were also accompanied with gait disturbances and slurring my speech. It wasn’t until I saw the chiropractor that I started to get any relief.

I had a cervical MRI last week the showed 3 building discs between by C1-C5 and an annular tear. I haven’t had any injuries whatsoever so the doctors can’t explain how all of it happened. Im only 34 and I stay active...still mind blown to be honest.

The MRI also showed that the damage in my neck was pulling on my brain stem and pushing on my spinal cord due to the natural curve in my neck being obsolete. My chiropractor explained that when anything happens so close to your brain stem it can cause all sorts of strange symptoms that are not easy to translate to an illness.

I will continue to follow this forum as it made a huge difference for me. I was able to go to my primary doctor and confidentiality ask for the cervical MRI based on what others were saying and as a result of my added pressure on the doctors I feel I have finally gotten somewhere!!

In the end, I was scared when all of the results came in and beyond mad at myself for not listening to my body sooner! Now I am on the mend and will most likely be able to avoid surgery though I am still exploring all options. I wish you the best!

what type of adjustment did you have? In my case, my xray shows some ddd at C4-C6 and a straightened lordosis. The symptoms are hypermobility and some lightheadedness when moving head too much. going to PT.

Not sure how old this posting thread is, but I have the exact same symptoms of others on this site ! Tight sub-occipital muscles at base of skull, mostly on right side....with TMJ symptoms and ear fullness and ache on right as well. Dizziness and off=balanced. PT doesn't help. Was told it was due to too much computer work and stress and posture as had Polio as a young child and gait is uneven.

Nothing helps.except temporary help from trigger point injections......too much Advil is not good.....use biofreeze and Icy Hot and nothing helps.  Don't really have a headache....just horribly tight muscles and feel like no head mobility.  MRI just showed arthritis of C1 and C2.. Makes life so difficult. Anyone else out there find help ?  My husband says to meditate....ha ha.....can only focus on this pain.

Nothing seems to help.  The imbalance is the worst.

      Hi Judi44826,

I am sorry you are in pain.

My symptoms started in 2003 which was apparently a collapsed vertebrae at 5/6 which was fused.

Today my neck is a wreck.  Avoid cervical fusions. I now have chronic  pain and osteoarthritis from c1 (I understand there’s actually not a c1) to about T3.

I am treated much different by doctors than I was 15 years ago. It was hard to have any one take me seriously back then. Most treated my complaints as stress and depression which, I found dismissive.  That was  pretty upsetting.

For your sake and all those with osteoarthritis, you might not want to refer to “just” osteoarthritis.  Arthritis  can be devastating .

My arthritis never should have been allowed to become so bad.  And, yet it wasn’t acknowledged until it was too far advanced. Now, it’s too late for preventative measures but, hey, now everyone believes me!

I think you might want to visit both a Physiatrist as well as a Rheumatologist.

Recently, I was diagnosed with a rare condition called “Crowned Dens” which is a form of pseudo gout, (formed by calcium crystals instead of uric acid as in gout).  It was impossible to move my head and the pain was unbearable 😬.  The “Dens” is the peg at the very top - on which the head swivels. It’s unusual,  but you could have it as well. I was put on both Prednisone and Methotrexate.

I also have a neurotomy (also called rhizitomy) which cauterizes the nerve impacted by my facet joint arthritis. These are done by interventional pain specialists.

I wish I could help you. I know how painful it can be. Be well.

      B

PS- I started with “Calm” the meditation app. about 2  1/2 months ago...I’m not sure about pain yet but for stress, I believe  it works-

how is everyone doing? i have the same symptoms, been having them for 2.5 years now after a collapsed wedge fracture at c6. i had a halo on but didnt heal properly and apparently the mris are really messed up as i was recommend surgery. the doc was suprised i was walking around like that. the symptoms seem to be brought on by extreme stress and with that comes less physical activity and more lying around. i think these all cause imbalances and issues in the neck to arise.

my current episode has been three weeks, horrible anxiety, debilitating fog, confusion like you wouldnt believe. i am unable to articulate myself when i was once eloquent in speech. physical symptoms include shaking, poor motor control, dizziness, fainting, loss of balance whilst walking as well as bladder problems (leaking and urgency).

i just want to know its going to be okay!!! i always had a feeling it was my neck causing this but right now it has to certain!

neurology, mri, cat scans, blood test, psychiatry, urology, the whole gamut of tests

    and nothing popped up!

is it normal for these symptoms to come up without added neck pain and just due to stress? how does one combat it? i have not been able to logically combat it, its got to be something with the physical body causing it.

I have such bad throbbing muscles in my neck that when i touch them they burn and i instantly sweat. Its like they are alive. Trying to get the trigger points out but I feel like i will die the second they are touched. I cant load my head all day from the pain which goes from the base of the skull into my upper back and shoulders and in the front to my clavicles.
